Already, Obama has begun to stack our federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, with anti-Second Amendment judges who will advance his gun-ban agenda. If he wins reelection, Obama could have the opportunity to tip the fragile balance of the Supreme Court to an anti-gun majority that will reverse the recent Heller and McDonald decisions that affirmed the Second Amendment as an individual right. |

“The last time I checked, I represent the folks of Illinois’ 8th Congressional District, not Congressional staff, Washington lobbyists, or the national press corps. Why would I care what Washington insiders have to say? I assume that Mr. Henigan is also in Washington D.C. to advocate on behalf of the real Americans outside the Beltway. That is why I find his insistence on including only Washington insiders in our debate so disturbing. |

And it’s also true that The Freedom Group has acquired many of the arms companies mentioned in the email, including Bushmaster Firearms (in April 2006), Remington (in May 2007) and Marlin (in January 2008), reports FactCheck.org.
But even the National Rifle Association disputes everything else in the viral email. Here's what the NRA Institute for Legislative Action says on its website:
"Recently, an old rumor regarding Cerberus, the private equity firm that owns Freedom Group, ... was in some way tied to George Soros.
"This rumor is completely false and baseless. NRA has had contact with officials from Cerberus and Freedom Group for some time. |

The state of Delaware will hold a "gun buyback" event Dec. 17 at churches in Wilmington and near New Castle in a new effort to get weapons off the streets.
Individuals will receive a $150 prepaid debit card for turning in a handgun, $200 for an assault rifle and $100 for shotguns and low-powered hunting rifles. The buyback is being funded by $100,000 in state tax dollars the Legislature appropriated for the pilot program earlier this year. |

Hobart ophthalmologist Nitin Verma said people should be aware that if the darts struck an eye damage could be done.
"There is nothing that is soft enough for the eye," Dr Verma said. "Anything that hits the eye can cause a problem."
Kidsafe Tasmania executive officer Jenny Branch said there had been cases of eye damage from rubber dart guns.
"Parents really do need to think about what they buy their children at Christmas time. You might be buying something for a 10-year-old but if there's a four and six and seven-year-old in the house that could be a recipe for disaster," Ms Branch said. |

The question that confronted Smithfield and Garner was how to define recreational facility. Smithfield, we suspect, went too far. The town, for example, will allow handguns on its greenway but not on the walking trail at Community Park, which actually connects to the greenway. The thinking, we assume, is that while the walking trail is not a recreational facility, it passes close by playgrounds and ball fields, which certainly are. Our thinking is that Smithfield's definition of recreational facility will be too broad to withstand a court challenge. |

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced Sunday that she's backing a bill that aims to crack down on corrupt gun dealers as well as eliminate the flow of illegal guns into New York.
Almost 90 percent of the firearms used in New York City gun crimes come from out of state, and most of those guns are illegal, according to the Democratic senator, who plans to introduce the Gun Trafficking Prevention Act this week. |

I am not willing to bear any more regulations or laws to solve another country’s failures. The crime situation in Mexico is a result of an extremely corrupt and weak government and efficient and ruthless drug cartels, not our firearms laws. The Brady Center says 90 percent of guns the Mexican drug lords get are traceable to the United States.
U.S. citizens cannot purchase fully automatic firearms, grenades, rocket launchers and crew-served weapons at a gun store. Most of the U.S. guns were given to the Mexican military during the Clinton era, and then sold by them to the cartels. |

Bridgeton Police Chief Mark Ott is of the opinion that no matter what is done to stop them, criminals will always be able to gain possession of a gun if they really want it.
“Here’s one way to look at it. If criminals can import tons of illegal narcotics into the country they can import tons of foreign firearms,” he said.
“People get what they want if they’re determined to get it. Kind of like the old phrase ‘Locks are for honest criminals.’” |

A homeowner in Port Orchard, Washington, did what the police could not do: He shot and stopped a bad guy. Two police officers tried to stop the man with a taser. He managed to escape and they will spend 1-to-3 days off-duty recovering.
The 47-year-old man then entered the home of a man in his 20s, who fired one shot into the suspect’s belly and that ended that. The suspect was sent to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma, where he is listed in stable condition. |

President Obama's people are out attacking Mitt Romney, saying that because he changes on the issues, he has no "moral core." So I guess that means if you say you will pull out of Iraq within a year and three years later we're still there; if you say we will close Gitmo and there's no plans to do so; if you say a health insurance mandate is wrong and then you make it the keystone of your plan; if you say you will end warrantless wiretapping, but then keep using it; if you say you believe the Second Amendment provides for an individual right, then support a ban on individuals owning guns in DC; |

Apparently there is now a new spin on said holiday spirit. A gun club has been offering pictures with Saint Nick - and your firearm of choice.
I am not kidding. According to the article on the CBS news website, the Scottsdale Gun Club is offering people the chance to pose with Santa Claus while they hold pistols and other kinds of firearms. The website included a number of pictures of adults, some dressed in camouflage, all holding weapons. |

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is set to announce legislation today to crack down on corrupt gun dealers. She wants to toughen penalties to reduce the flow of illegal firearms into and around the state. The bill comes after state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman charged 10 dealers with selling weapons without background checks at gun shows statewide. The attorney general said his eight-month investigation found vendors were selling guns to people who admitted they could not pass a background check. |
