The Winchester Model 94 and .30-30 cartridge are so tightly linked in shooters’ minds, some think .30-30 means Winchester 94. But both were born under different names, like a movie actor who changed his name from Archibald to something more suitable for public adoration. |

New York State Senator Kevin Parker wants to use the First Amendment rights of would-be gun buyers to prevent them from exercising their Second Amendment rights in an effort that privacy groups are opposing, according to CNY Central.
The Brooklyn Democrat reportedly doesn’t care about the privacy of honest citizens who want to have a firearm. It appears the plan is aimed at chilling the desire of anyone to own a gun. |

The topic of school security came up at a faculty meeting at Oakland University in Michigan. Someone said they should fight back against an attacker on campus. That sounded like a good idea. One Pennsylvania school gave each classroom a bucket of rocks with which to fight off an intruder. The Oakland faculty passed a proposal to issue hockey pucks for school security. The local police chief might have planted the idea. A common classroom demonstration uses tennis balls against an attacker who is armed with an airsoft gun.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office will not seek out violators to Washington’s recently passed Initiative 1639, which is one of the toughest gun laws on the books across the country. However, Lewis County Sheriff Robert Snaza stressed that doesn’t mean the sheriff’s office wouldn’t enforce the law. If a case were to come up where a portion of I-1639 were violated, Snaza said the office would fully investigate the crime.

I saw a unique Single Action Army at a gun show recently. It was gold-plated and completely engraved with cattle brands. All the owner of the gun could tell me was that it was a “cattle brand Colt.” Can you tell me about this type of engraving or its history? |

In this polarized society, there isn’t much gray area when it comes to the National Rifle Association. Idaho politicians love the organization, because NRA endorsements tend to lead to election wins. Detractors will paint the NRA as the root of all evil for its unwavering support of Second Amendment rights, even in the aftermath of school shootings.

The 2018 midterm election cycle saw a repeat — and in many ways an escalation — of the left-wing political violence and mayhem of the 2016 elections: Antifa rioting in the streets; Indivisible occupying and disrupting congressional offices and town hall meetings; and Maxine Waters’ cadres stalking and terrorizing Republican officeholders and conservative pundits at restaurants, supermarkets, and their homes. |

The old German fortress at Namutoni sits on the Southeastern fringe of the Etosha pan, a massive salt lake on the central plateau of what is now known as the Republic of Namibia. Although it might present the kind of colonial charm that appeals to tourists today, the fort’s striking white facade also reminds visitors of a time when conflict touched the Kalahari Basin. On the left side of the main gate is an old plaque presenting these words. |
