NOTE TO THE MANY REAL AMERICANS WHO FREQUENT THIS SITE BUT HAVE NEVER SUPPORTED OUR EFFORTS:
We're glad to serve the widest audience possible with the best daily gun- and freedom-related compilation of news in America. It's an honor to serve, to fill a need, to spread the word.
We've never charged a fee to access this website, our archives, the work of many who call this place home and take refuge here. Membership and other types of support have always been optional. We'd like to keep it that way.
So, plain and simple, if you're benefitting from our work, our passion, our commitment to liberty; if you're served by coming around to this corner of the web; if you truly believe in what goes on here -- help us out.
We put everything we had into the Silveira v. Lockyer lawsuit -- a true Second Amendment lawsuit -- and were turned down. But we're still here, and we're figuring out what comes next, where to put our attention, how to continue to serve in these troubling times. And we're asking you who've never given us some pocket change but appreciate our work to dig deep.
The "Members/Join" tab in the upper left of the page takes you to a place to give online or give by mail. Thanks.

"A Prince George's grand jury yesterday declined to indict a county police officer for shooting an unarmed man in the back during a raid a year ago....(Charles) Ramseur, 41, a 14-year veteran of the police force, has been on administrative leave with pay since he shot Desmond E. Ray, 23, on Dec. 11. Ramseur's bullet severed Ray's spinal cord, and Ray now uses a wheelchair....Ray is the fourth person Ramseur has shot in the line of duty since 1992. Another grand jury declined to indict the officer in a June 2000 shooting outside an Adelphi pizza shop, and no administrative or criminal charges were filed in previous cases." ... -------
KABA NOTE:
Prince George's County, Maryland is famous for employing police officers who shoot unarmed people, sometimes to death, with IMPUNITY. Washington Post, to its credit, did a very thorough in-depth, multiple-report exposure of the problem. Click here to check it out -- if you can stomach the information. |

"Former Charlotte County sheriff's Cpl. Wyatt Henderson is standing trial in U.S. District Court, charged with using excessive force while arresting the 17-year-old in May 2002 and lying about it to the FBI."
"Keith Bennett, who was assigned to a vice-and-organized-crime unit run by Henderson, testified that he saw Henderson take Christopher Grant to the ground with a knee to the back and then hit the teen in the head with his pistol, breaking his jaw."

"Tulsa Police officers are outraged over a new Oklahoma law. The law prevents them from arresting people who illegally carry guns in their cars. As a matter of fact, they can't even write the person a ticket." ...
"Shootings, murders and gang activity got so bad in Tulsa this spring, the police department took its tank out to serve warrants and federal and state agencies held news conferences about all they planned to do to get illegal guns off the streets."
"Little did they know that on July 1st, the state would pass a law that seems to work against them. It says officers who pull people over for traffic violations can no longer arrest those who are illegally transporting a firearm in a vehicle; instead, the person is to receive a $70 state ticket." ... -------

Some folks in Kansas are up in arms these days.
In the town of Geuda Springs, the town council recently passed an ordinance requiring every resident to own a firearm. And that had some people making the direst predictions.
Gun accidents will increase, they claimed. Murders will be up.
We've heard it all before. We hear the same cries from the Chicken Littles of the world every time a city or state encourages more gun ownership. Anti-gun fanatics come out of the woodwork, predicting that more guns in people's hands will result in rivers of blood flowing in the streets.
But it never happens.
It's just a good thing that a lot of politicos don't make their living making forecasts. The weathermen get it right more often. |

"There was time for one audience question yesterday at a debate for undergraduate council president candidates at Harvard. The question did not concern concerts, tuition increases, or cafeteria food. It was about safety and the spate of recent attacks on women near campus."

When does gerrymandering become a threat to democracy?
On his porch in Charleroi, Frank Mascara said the issue is a lot bigger than he is. "I'm through, I'm done, out of politics," he said. "It won't affect me one way or the other. But the system is now totally out of whack, and that matters to a lot of people. It's not about me, it's about power on a national scale." ... |

ST. LOUIS, Dec. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- "When the U.S. Supreme Court issues its much-awaited decision on the constitutionality of the controversial McCain-Feingold campaign reform legislation, its arguments may hinge on testimony regarding the validity of a political advertising database used to push for the legislation."
"While supporters of the legislation claim the database provides clear and compelling evidence that McCain-Feingold reforms do not infringe upon free speech, this is far from the truth, according to a political scientist who served as an expert witness when the case was heard in a lower court." ... |

"As the campaign continued, the gung-ho tactics of the police against drug criminals left a bloody trail of bodies - among them those of innocent bystanders."
"Questions were raised at home and abroad about violation of human rights in the campaign."
"Police claimed that most of the dead were traffickers killed by drug dealers who were afraid that they would expose them and their modus operandi."
"Others were killed by police acting in self-defence, they added." ... ---

"A Pretoria couple were tied up and robbed of their vehicle while sight-seeing at Fort Klapperkop on Thursday night."
"Captain Piletji Sebola said the couple were sitting in the vehicle in Johan Rissik Drive when eight men, one armed with a firearm, confronted them around 22:00."
"They were dragged out of the car and their hands tied with ropes. The robbers took the keys to the vehicle and drove off."
"Police have warned members of the public not to visit the site at night and that if they do they should do so in groups in order to avoid being attacked." -------
So cops admit they can't stop the thugs, but still want the people disarmed. Sounds about like New York City, Chicago, D.C. and other anti-self-defense cities in America. |

"A senior executive at the radio station, Radio Television Libre des Mille Collines, was also sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in the government-orchestrated massacres of minority Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus that killed 500,000 people." -------

"In the purchase by the Cebu City Government of 12 Smith and Wesson revolvers and pistols amounting to almost P300,000, one is therefore prompted to ask whether there is a need for the guns, and if there is none, whether City Hall is awash with money."

A 28-year-old police officer shot and killed his colleague before turning the gun on himself in Tabase near Mount Fletcher on Friday, Eastern Cape police said.
Inspector Ursula Roelofse said Sergeant Mlungiseleli Kweba, 37, and Constable Zwelethu Abner Sidzaba, 28, who stayed at the station barracks, were involved in an argument.
Kweba attacked Sidzaba with a knobkerrie. Sidzaba produced a firearm and shot his colleague and then shot himself, Roelofse said.
The bodies of the two policemen were found by a member of the public who went to the station to open a case.
Police were investigating the matter, Roelofse said. ---
