Griffin’s attorney, Steven Clark, questioned whether Griffin was acting in self-defense since he indicated that he started shooting after he noticed the other driver had “something” in his hand. According to Ford, the couple did have a gun on them, and the pickup truck driver admitted pulling it out to act in self-defense but said the gun jammed when he tried to fire it. According to police, the road rage case started after the couple honked their horn at Griffin because he was blocking traffic at a green light near Crossroads shopping center. |

A woman detained in a shooting on Columbus' Northeast Side said she shot the man in self defense, police say.
The woman told police she was the person who shot Gerald Jackson, 38, when officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 4:50 p.m. in the 3400 block of Nutcreek Court, a cul-de-sace of a half-dozen duplex homes off Woodsedge Road in the Walnut Creek neighborhood.
The woman, who police have not identified, was detained at the scene. In a news release, the department said she is cooperating with the investigation. |

Vogt had asked jurors to award him unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for injuries he said he suffered, including a broken nose and facial fracture, during an unprovoked attack. But jurors determined Pickell didn’t assault Vogt and awarded the auctioneer nothing.
“While I’m disappointed in today’s result, I’ll continue to pursue my options going forward and try to get some justice for this very painful experience,” Vogt said.
Jurors agreed with Pickell that he acted in self-defense.
“The worse thing about this — it wasn’t about the money — it was actually about losing a good friend and being betrayed by somebody I trusted,” Pickell said. |

“Despite multiple attempts to reach Facebook to discuss the matter, to date we have not had direct communications with any of their staff members,” the S&W representative said. “No rationale was given for the reinstatement beyond a comment on social media from a Facebook representative stating that the suspension had been ‘in error.’”
The representative told Fox News that in the suspension notice, Facebook referenced five posts dating back to December 2023 that they “suggest did not follow their community guidelines.” |

As the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday began oral arguments in a challenge to a Tennessee law banning trans treatments such as puberty blockers and hormones for people under age 18, various pro-transgender groups have weighed in on the matter.
Interestingly, while it seems way out of their wheelhouse, three gun-ban groups have also become involved in the case, filing an amicus brief in support of the federal government’s challenge to a lower court ruling affirming the law. Brady, Giffords Law Center and March for Our Lives—all groups usually focused on imposing stricter gun laws on Americans—jumped into the transgender fray on Wednesday, distributing a news release explaining their activism. |

With the 2024 Presidential election in the rearview mirror and the country resoundingly rejecting four more years of any calamitous leftist administration, you may be tempted to breathe a sigh of relief, but not so fast. Rights are typically not taken away from the top down, but rather from the bottom up, which means it’s time to pay close attention to legislatures across the country as they prepare to convene in January. A couple of weeks ago I wrote about leftist governors retaliating against the election results by threatening the Second Amendment rights of their constituents, however, it’s not just the pinkos in the governor’s mansions with their sights set on your liberty. |

As the high-profile manslaughter trial of Daniel Penny unfolds in New York City, the case has ignited discussions across state lines, with many New Jersey residents seeking clarity on their own self-defense rights. The Garden State’s self-defense laws, which include a duty to retreat and a modified Castle Doctrine, differ significantly from other states’ frameworks.
Under New Jersey law, self-defense is considered justified only when an individual reasonably believes force is necessary to protect against imminent unlawful harm. However, the state mandates proportionality, meaning the level of force used must not exceed what is required to neutralize the immediate threat. |

A disturbing but not especially surprising exposé has detailed a decades-long trend of cops illegally selling firearms, some of them military-grade, as a side hustle.
The report from CBS found at least 50 cases of sheriffs, lieutenants, chiefs of police, and police captains across the country who have been involved in questionable gun sales over the past 20 years. The weapons, sold at enormous markups, end up in the hands of gun enthusiasts or violent criminals, who then turn around and use those guns to commit murder and other crimes. |

A downstate federal judge’s ruling against Illinois” assault weapons ban is being put on hold. A federal appeals court in Chicago ruled yesterday that the ban can stay in place while the state contests last month’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Stephen McGlynn, who found that the statewide ban violates the Second Amendment. It is the second time the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has determined that the law can remain on the books as Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office battles several gun rights groups over the legality of the weapons ban. |

The establishment (i.e., “legacy”) media is continuing its subtle, and sometimes not-so-subtle, game of using different terms than “gun control” to describe ongoing efforts designed to infringe, impair and restrict the right to keep and bear arms, a practice some folks have dubbed “camo-speak.”
Examples of this can be found by simply going on the popular search engine Google and tying in “gun control.” One is suddenly able to click on thousands of news stories which provide real time examples of how the press packages its coverage of gun control. |

Diedrich tells Daun he found 190 unintentional firearm incidents over eight years in Wisconsin. And his reporting reveals the troubling inconsistencies. Milwaukee County charges 98% of its cases as felonies. But others often use the state’s 1991 child access prevention law. It treats the conduct as a misdemeanor. Critics argue this disparity unfairly targets Milwaukee’s predominantly African-American population and exacerbates existing inequalities. |

“Firearms designed for the battlefield do not belong in our communities. That’s why since 2015, we’ve done more than any previous government on gun control, and why we’re pursuing further action today by prohibiting 324 additional models of assault-style firearms,” said LeBlanc on X. |

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, led a bicameral coalition filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court requesting it to uphold American sovereignty in a $10 billion lawsuit brought by Mexico blaming U.S. gun manufacturers for cartel gun violence in Mexico.
The bicameral appeal was made in concert with one by a coalition of 28 state attorneys general, The Center Square reported.
At issue is a 2022 lawsuit brought by the Mexican government against U.S. gun manufacturers arguing they are responsible for Mexican cartel crime in Mexico. A federal judge in Massachusetts dismissed the lawsuit. |
