"Following Tuesday's 23-10 vote by the Wisconsin State Senate to pass concealed carry legislation, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is urging Badger State gun owners to call the State Assembly in support of a common sense personal protection law."

"'Wisconsin residents have just as much right to defend themselves as do the citizens in 46 other states,' said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron. 'Yet anti-gun Gov. Jim Doyle, who is once again promising to veto this modest legislation, is treating them like second-class citizens who cannot be trusted with their own safety. It makes me wonder why he expects Wisconsin citizens to trust him in the governor's office.'" ...

"San Francisco taxpayers spend at least $31.2 million responding to gun violence every year, including $14 million on police work and $6.2 million in unreimbursed medical costs, according to City Controller Ed Harrington."

"Families in The City lose an additional $3 million in income annually when their relatives are killed by guns, Harrington says."

"The estimates are part of The City’s response to a lawsuit filed last month by the National Rifle Association, one day after San Francisco residents approved a ban on handguns at the ballot box. The lawsuit charges that the ban violates 'federal guarantees' and various state laws in California." ...

US To Change Citizenship Test

FULL TEXT BELOW:

Changes are coming to the US citizenship test. The chief of the federal citizenship office says questions will be revised to focus on basic civics, rather than questions that could spark academic debate.

For instance, the test won't go into topics such as how the Constitution's Second Amendment affects gun laws or who were the original Americans. Instead it will "go to the basics of civics" such as freedom of expression.

In addition to asking who wrote the Declaration of Independence, the test could ask the applicant to name one of the document's fundamental components.

The citizenship office plans to complete a study by next month on whether the test must be redesigned or merely revised.

The changes should be in use by January 2008.

... "Equally well established is that John Moses Browning's magnificent Model of 1911 pistol is one of the world's most effective handguns for personal defense. While some continue to enjoy referring to it as a 'dinosaur,' the original Model of 1911, unlike the first raptor, remains alive and well, even if arguably a little outdated by today's standards."

"However, just as birds descended from dinosaurs, today's 1911-style pistols have come a long way in keeping current, and they are the tip of the spear in embodying the latest improvements in auto pistols.
