JPFO: Have You Been Contacted by the BATFE?

"Congress will do nothing to stop BATFE abuses of gun owners unless Congress hears from us loud and clear. Courts won’t protect our rights until they realize that our rights are being violated. Our publicizing the Glover matter – including the video of the botched BATFE 'test' of the alleged 'machine gun' – has already sent shockwaves through BATFE. That was just one example. Imagine the effects when we can report dozens, even hundreds of examples of BATFE harassment, hostility, heavy-handedness, and oppressive conduct!"

"As part of our Boot the BATFE campaign, we are asking firearms owners and dealers to help us collect reports of BATFE hostility, harassment and oppressive conduct. We need to get solid information, real case examples, and estimated counts of BATFE actions against us. Put on your boots, and help us get this job done." ...

"Boston Globe -- Governor General Thomas Gage has decided to move in and seize a cache of registered firearms gathered by a few members of the NRA, a radical organisation which believes that the citizens should have an unfettered right to keep and bear arms, to fight against the 'Intolerable Acts.' These radicals are suspected of possessing highly dangerous and illegal 'assault rifles.'" ...

"For the second time in two years, the failure of Wisconsin's State Assembly to override anti-gun Gov. Jim Doyle's veto of crucial personal protection legislation proves that Democrats are 'all talk and no walk' on the issue of firearms rights and the safety of their constituents, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said this afternoon."

FULL TEXT BELOW:

The Wisconsin gun lobby today failed to secure enough votes to override Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle's second veto of legislation that would ludicrously weaken gun laws in Wisconsin.

Under the proposal, loaded, hidden handguns could have been legally sneaked into rock concerts, shopping malls and the Wisconsin State Fair.

"Today, sensible state legislators stood up to the gun lobby and said this proposal was preposterous," said Jim Brady, Chair of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "They're right. You don't make a rock concert safer by letting everyone pack heat."

"I want to thank the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly who had the courage and common sense to uphold Governor Doyle’ s veto of the concealed carry bill.

No one other than the pro- gun special interests was clamoring for this unnecessary piece of legislation.

Getting illegal guns and those who carry and use them off our streets is a real problem that won’t be solved by allowing more guns in our communities.

It’s time that for the legislature to get serious about protecting citizens from those criminals who victimize our neighborhoods and families with illegal guns."

"It's been a 133 year tradition in Wisconsin, and it will stand. Two votes gave Governor Jim Doyle and other people against hidden weapons a veto victory. The State Senate decided to override the veto and put the decision into the hands of the State Assembly. It needed 66 votes to change the Governor's decision on guns. Tuesday, 64 Assembly members voted to override, 34 stuck with the Governor. The vote fell along party lines minus four Democrats who voted for concealed guns."

"Those Democrats are all from our neck of the woods, including: Barbara Gronemus ... Mary Hubler ... Marlin Schneider ... Adams County and Sue Ann Vruwink ... in Wood County. Wisconsin is still one of only four states that do not allow concealed weapons."

"Members of the Georgia General Assembly, or at least some of them, have never met a gun restriction they thought necessary. Aside from Senate Bill 396, which would allow citizens who 'reasonably believe' they are under attack to use deadly force anywhere, there is House Bill 998, sponsored by Tom Graves, R-Ranger, and Earl Ernhardt, R-Powder Springs. Their bill states: 'It shall be lawful for any person who may lawfully possess firearms to park a motor vehicle on any property set aside for the parking of a motor vehicle ..."
