Deputizing private parties to restrict liberty has become popular among politicians constrained by constitutional protections for individual rights. They get to target personal freedom without explicitly restricting anything, like a bratty kid waving his hands around a sibling's face while chanting "I'm not touching you!" The latest such example is the San Jose, California, city government, which insists that it is "constitutionally compliant" in requiring gun owners to purchase liability insurance and to pay an "annual gun harm reduction fee" to exercise a right specifically protected by the Second Amendment. |

Joe Biden just cannot get himself out of trouble, as a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released over the weekend revealed his “campaign trail vow to select a Black woman to fill a high-court vacancy without reviewing all potential candidates evokes a sharply negative reaction from voters.”
According to Ipsos, “Americans overwhelmingly believe Joe Biden should ‘consider all possible nominees’ (76%) rather than ‘consider only nominees who are Black women, as he has pledged to do’” (23%). |

Georgians seeking to carry a handgun have to apply for a license with their local probate court, get fingerprinted, submit to a background check and pay a fee up to $75.
Legislation scheduled to be heard in a Senate committee on Tuesday would get rid of that process, and current and former law enforcement officials are split over whether the state should move toward allowing Georgians to carry handguns without a permit. |

The gun has been in development for a while. At SHOT Show 2015, we got our first glimpse of it. Frank DeSomma, who tragically lost his life in an automobile accident in 2020, showed it to Guns.com. Back then, it was called the PSG, which stood for Patriot Sub Gun. Despite DeSomma's passing, POF-USA has continued to produce high-quality and innovative firearms. The Phoenix is no exception. It was officially released at this year's SHOT Show. POF-USA engineer John Capps was there to show it to us.
