There seemed an urgency in the footsteps coming from behind me on the concrete walkway of the pistol range. Reaching the firing line, I heard, “Hey, the hammer on your pistol is cocked.”
The fellow, the only occupant of the range besides me, had seen my Colt .45 in its holster as we were walking back from hanging our respective targets.
“Yes, I know," I replied.
“Are you going to fix it?”
“No, it is as it is supposed to be.”
“Well, that seems dangerous,” he said.
The man seemed genuinely concerned, and I had no wish to perpetuate the perception that gun folks are irresponsible, particularly on a range where safety is tantamount to future success and when a fellow shooter was concerned.

KOAT was at a gun rights rally Saturday in Santa Fe, talking to people about Senate Bill 2. The bill got the state senate's approval Friday, but it still has to go to the state House.

The AR platform is the most popular in these United States, at least unless misguided “do-gooders” have their way. While plenty of people want a more compact version, not everyone wants to deal with getting an SBR stamp from the ATF, so the AR Pistol platform was created as a workaround. |

The internet is rife with essays by self-styled firearm experts who seem hell-bent on disparaging various legacy platforms for all manner of supposed deficiencies—despite the fact that those same guns are held in high regard by large numbers of satisfied users. Such differences of opinion are understandable given the fact that each of us has a uniquely individual set of experiences, knowledge and preferences that informs our choices. |

This alert contains info on two bills. Please be sure to see the info on the second bill SB 1538 which could send you to prison for 5 years. Last Friday the House Judiciary Committee heard HB 4005 the firearms lockdown bill. Gun rights supporters greatly outnumbered the Bloomberg shills who came to testify in opposition to your rights and common sense. We are grateful for everyone who showed up, testified, or submitted testimony. You are heroes.

When I was a little girl in the early 1990s, my father worked in the energy industry and often flitted off to South America. He brought us back postcards and chucherías from this faraway land of Venezuela, describing it as the most picturesque nation in Latin America. The nation was then awash in oil wealth, the highest growth rate in the region, boundless education opportunities, fine foods and world-class beaches.

A bill that would repeal most gun-free zones in Wyoming has been proposed in the Wyoming Legislature for the upcoming 2020 sessions. The legislation would not repeal gun-free zones in courtrooms or on private property but would eliminate such zones in governmental meetings (including the legislature), schools, colleges and many other venues where firearms are currently prohibited. |

A controversial bill to ban future sales of assault weapons in Virginia and outlaw high-capacity magazines and bump stocks advanced out of a House of Delegates committee meeting Friday morning that drew an overflow crowd. The legislation is the last big-ticket gun bill Democrats are taking up ahead of a key legislative deadline next week, but it remains to be seen whether it has enough Democratic support for final passage. |

When Shane Cox started manufacturing and selling unregistered short-barrel rifles and silencers in his Chanute, Kan., gun store roughly six years ago, he believed that the state’s new Second Amendment Protection Act shielded him from federal prosecution. So did his customer Jeremy Kettler, a veteran who bought one of Cox’s “Made in Kansas” suppressors. Kettler was so excited that he posted a video about the purchase on Facebook. |

Billionaire anti-gun crusader Michael Bloomberg has opened campaign offices in 40 states, deploying 2,100 campaign workers, including 53 in Washington State, according to the Seattle P-I.com.
One of the cities where a Bloomberg office has opened is Tacoma, but the wealthy candidate was a no-show at the Tacoma office, where Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards served as a stand-in. She was a supporter of the recently-adopted tax on firearm and ammunition sales in the “City of Destiny,” which drew heavy opposition from firearms owners and retailers in the city. |

Hornady has introduced a new series of ammunition specifically tailored for people who pursue big-game with sidearms and it is dubbed Handgun Hunter! We had the opportunity to see some of this ammo for the first time while attending SHOT Show 2020 and its expansion, and weight retention look pretty impressive. For the time being, it has been introduced in 7 common self-defense/hunting cartridges common for bear, boar, and other large game animals. |

MSNBC's Katy Tur, who anchors a weekday politics show, does not seem to know much about politics. This is what happens when you promote someone based on popularity rather than merit. On Friday, Tur, who became media-famous in 2016 after then-GOP candidate Donald Trump was mean to her, asked a guest whether gerrymandering could be used to break up Republican control of the U.S. Senate. |

After spending a few days at NRA’s seventh annual Great American Outdoor Show, it is apparent the interest that red-blooded Americans have in the constitutional right to bear arms is alive and well. The aisles were swarming with enthusiasm from all walks of life. “We drove down from upstate New York to spend a few days at this show. We were pleased to see the National Rifle Association focus 2nd Amendment traditions and allow firearm manufacturers to show off products. We’ve watched the press from SHOT Show and are always excited to come get a feel of the year’s new guns. And not to mention booking our annual hunting and fishing trips,” said Grant Williams. |
