"The 11-year-old is back at Llantwit Major Comprehensive School in south Wales after shooting his sociology master in the neck with a toy ball bearing gun." "School head Michael Norton expelled the pupil and was quickly backed up by his board of governors." "But the boy's parents appealed to an independent panel which overturned the school's decision." |

"Senate Bill 5317 is a simple, unobtrusive proposal. If a gun owner's loaded firearm should wind up in the hands of a child, the gun owner could face a charge of reckless endangerment, a gross misdemeanor. The gun owner is legally inoculated against that charge, however, if the firearm was safely stored; that is, 'secured in a locked box, gun safe, other secure locked storage space or secured with a lock or any device that prevents the firearm from discharging.' "
------- The gun owner will also be legally dead in the event of a home invasion if his gun is inaccessible to him to defend his and his family's lives. But that doesn't matter to gun controllers, whose only mission is to institute yet more laws to make firearms completely inaccessible in times of need. |

"Daily Telegraph sports journalist Martin Johnson has been threatened by a gunman in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare." ...
" 'An armed guard came out from nowhere with a sten(?) gun on his shoulder. He removed it from the non-offensive position to suggest to me that he didn't much care for my presence,' Johnson said."
------- Aren't the Brits overwhelmingly in favor of only law enforcement having firearms? All of a sudden, this particular Brit wasn't too comfy when the guard pointed his weapon at him. |

"Police said Mickie T. Barmore, entered Eleanor D. Heller's home in the 400 block of Cole Avenue around 2:30 a.m. and told her, 'You're going to die,' while stabbing her with a steak knife."
"Heller had a restraining order against Barmore, who is the father of her two children."

The victims of violence in these situations may realize only too late that they need to defend themselves, and in such a situation, Ohio's concealed carry ban can kill.

"Two people from the Cato Institute (though not the Institute itself) and a couple of other lawyers have filed a lawsuit challenging the D.C. gun ban on Second Amendment grounds." ...
"I think the plaintiffs should win; ... I believe the Second Amendment secures an individual right to keep and bear arms, and a near-total gun ban such as the one in D.C. (which prohibits the possession even of rifles and shotguns, unless they are unloaded and either locked or disassembled) surely violates that right. Whether the plaintiffs will win is, of course, a harder question."

Robert A. "When lobbying for further restrictions on Second Amendment rights, gun-control advocates love to call attention to the number of crimes committed with guns in America. Brushing the Constitution off like a Transportation Services parking ticket, these groups call for more laws, more interference with average citizens seeking to exercise their outdated (albeit enumerated) rights. Somehow, they confuse good citizens with criminals. Ignored is the fact that, in the hands of the law-abiding, firearms are frequently used to prevent crimes." |

"Guns are Really Neat. Aside from the fact that they can blow big 'ole holes through engine blocks and elk, they also teach us good theology. You see if people were basically good, we wouldn't need guns at all. And since governments consist universally of people, we know that we must not trust our leaders even as we obey God and pray for them. Train yourself to shoot a gun. And pray also that no one ever forces you to use it." |

"The lawsuits in question are definitely not frivolous. There is no question that they have been used as deadly weapons to damage or destroy gun manufacturing companies. They drive up the cost of firearms, thereby discriminating against low-income citizens who wish to protect their families or participate in shooting sports."
"The most notable suits are financed with your tax dollars by big-city mayors hoping to distract attention from their crime-fighting failures. "For if they were so received, and entitled to the privileges and immunities of citizens, it would exempt them from the operation of the special laws and from the police regulations which they considered to be necessary for their own safety. It would give to persons of the negro race, who were recognized as citizens in any one State of the Union, the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, singly or in companies, without pass or passport, and without obstruction, to sojourn there as long as they pleased, to go where they pleased at every hour of the day or night without molestation, unless they committed some violation of law for which a white man would be punished; and it would give them the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went. And all of this would be done in the face of the subject race of the same color, both free and slaves, and inevitably producing discontent and insubordination among them, and endangering the peace and safety of the State." |
