Is this what Sarah wants? Unarmed women?

-------
"The woman said she was loading groceries into her car in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie store near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Hurstbourne Lane in Fern Creek. Then, according to the accuser, a white van drove up, and three men forced her inside."

"The alleged victim said the three men took turns raping and sodomizing her multiple times, Gum reported. Then the men dropped her off in a field, according to police. The woman was able to flag down a motorist, who took her to get help."

"After hearing about the incident, several women told Gum they'll stop shopping after dark."

-------
Instead of altering their lives and their schedules, how about purchasing a firearm and learning how to use it?

"A state representative asked fellow lawmakers to kill his own gun bill Monday, in the face of election-year politics."

"The bill, one of three controversial gun bills before the legislature, would have changed the law that closed what's commonly called the 'gun show loophole.' " ...

"This is an election year and it's a very, very contentious vote in the Senate... Why should I put my fellow representatives on record with a very contentious vote if the bill's going to die anyway?"

"The war on terror casts a wide net and has so far prevented a second September 11th. But is that net too wide? CBS 2 has learned of a top secret government list of Americans who are not allowed on any commercial airlines."

"Are they terrorists or violent criminals or something else?" ...

"The airport counter: This is as far as Rebecca Gordon and Janet Adams say they are allowed to go at San Francisco International Airport. The last time they checked in for a flight to Boston to visit Gordon's 80-year-old father, an airline employee called the police."

" 'She came back and said you turned up on the FBI no-fly list. We have called the San Francisco police. We were shocked, really shocked,' recalled Adams."

" 'We were detained. We were definitely detained. I couldn't even get a drink of water,' Gordon remembered."

"Crossing the U.S.-Canada border to go to church on a Sunday cost a U.S. citizen $10,000 for breaching Washington's tough new security rules." ...

"Like the other half-dozen residents of Township 15 Range 15, crossing the border is a daily ritual for Albert. The nearby Quebec village of St. Pamphile is where they shop, eat and pray." ...

"The local U.S. customs station is closed on Sundays, so he just drove around the locked gate, as he had done every weekend since the gate appeared last May, following a tightening of border security."

"Two days later, Albert was summoned to the customs office, where an officer told him he had been caught on camera crossing the border illegally." ...

"Ottawa has granted special passes to some 300 U.S. citizens in that region so they can enter the country when Canadian customs posts are closed, but the United States canceled a similar program last May."

"That forces local residents to make a 200-mile detour along treacherous logging roads to get home via the nearest staffed border checkpoint."

"I feel like I'm living in a jail," he said.

"A scientific panel is questioning a method used by the FBI to match bullets from crime scenes, a finding that could give defense lawyers a new route to attack prosecution evidence."

"In seeking to tie bullets from a crime scene to others found in a suspect's possession, the FBI analyzes the lead for traces of seven other metals, a system that the report from the National Research Council said was sound." ...

" 'They cannot match lead samples like fingerprints' but when an FBI scientist gets on the stand, it gets more credibility from the jury than it deserves, King said."

"The findings are the latest in a string of controversies and embarrassments to hit the FBI lab, which pledged to remake itself after a scandal in the 1990s over bad science."

"After pressure from and public exposure by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), the College of William & Mary (W&M) has reversed course and allowed an 'affirmative action bake sale' to proceed without interference. A student group, the Sons of Liberty, saw its satirical protest unlawfully halted by W&M in November; it was one of many such protests nationwide that were shut down on campuses this past fall. While W&M allowed the group's bake sale to proceed without incident this time, W&M President Timothy J. Sullivan issued a statement denying that his administration acted improperly in stopping the same protest just months before."
