When the US Army announced that the SIG 277 Fury was the winner of the Next Generation Squad Weapon program (NGSW) contract in 2022, it took many American shooters by surprise (myself included).

Growing up in the kinder, gentler 1950s was a wonderful experience for many reasons, not the least of which was the excellent, and very wise teachers I had in high school. Several of the men were returning veterans, while the English department was staffed with the proverbial old maid schoolteachers who not only knew their stuff but also had a great understanding of how to motivate kids.

The tradition of arms for Black Americans has always been different.

Following the Civil War, “Black codes” were implemented in many states, which were designed to keep Blacks from exercising their right to keep and bear arms. In Florida, for example, whites could enter Black-owned homes and search for weapons without a warrant. In Louisiana, Blacks could be stopped and searched for weapons at any time. If they refused to comply, they could be shot.

In a long-expected move, national gun rights organizations are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Illinois’ ban on assault weapons and large capacity magazines.

In separate petitions filed Monday, the Colorado-based National Association for Gun Rights and the Nevada-based Firearms Policy Coalition asked the nation’s high court to reverse a decision of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. A recent post by Navi of Boomhandia (a well-known name in the 3D-printed gun community) about the politics and culture of 3D-printed guns really impressed me, and I think it bears sharing and discussing further here. It came after a dustup where some said that LGBT (especially the T) enthusiasts were too loud about 3D-printed guns, and thus were discouraging people from getting into it.
