Imagine concealed hand guns on school grounds like Fruita Monument and Pomona Elementary. A proposed bill in Denver would allow this. The argument is that if there is an active shooter situation in a rural community, it could take a while for police to respond, and having someone armed legally would protect the kids and staff. The idea of guns in schools, some people think it's necessary. |

A story in Tuesday’s Seattle Times that blames “gun violence” for 75 percent of homicides in Washington State’s King County could serve as a learning tool for Second Amendment activists across the country because, while perpetuating a misconception about crime, it also undercuts one of the popular arguments of the gun prohibition lobby.
Rights activists have long criticized the dominant media for using the term “gun violence” when the crime is not the gun’s fault, but falls on the perpetrator. It’s the “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” principle. |

Behind the scenes, a gun industry lobbyist provided comments that were directly incorporated into an internal memo at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to newly disclosed documents -- a white paper that suggested the agency peel back a number of gun regulations. The white paper was produced by Acting ATF Deputy Director Ronald B. Turk and dated on President Donald Trump's inauguration day, January 20, 2017. It says the agency should consider allowing gun dealers to sell across state lines, loosen restrictions on gun noise suppressors, and pull back on its scrutiny of gun shops. |

Anthony William Felton, of Ballantine, faces a new felony charge after prosecutors say he played a role in the burglary of an industrial supply store in the summer. Westchester County Executive George Latimer, a Democrat, has signed a bill into law that would prevent gun shows from being held on county-owned property. The approval comes just after the Westchester County Board of Legislators, BOL, passed the bill in a 12-5 vote on Feb. 5. With his signature, county officials have officially codified an existing executive order to ban gun shows on county property that Latimer made earlier this year just days into his new role as county executive. |
