Shotguns may be the most versatile firearms on the face of the planet. Shooters around the globe rely on these smoothbore firearms for hunting, sport shooting, and personal defense. Because shotguns are in such high demand, modern shooters can choose from an incredibly diverse selection, with models designed to suit specific shooting needs. While variety is definitely the spice of life, too many options can make finding the right shotgun seem almost impossible, especially if you’re new to firearms. |

As with any full metal jacket bullet, the FMJ boat tail is fully (or mostly) encased in copper or another hard metal or material. Roughly resembling the shape of a boat, boat tails are named for their designed tapered rear when viewed from the side. This bullet type is commonly used for competition shooting due to their easy assembly. These rounds tend to be easy to assemble without denting, nicking or scratching the bullet surface – and any tiny imperfection can lead to unwanted bullet performance, or can even cause issues with the casing. |

One bill would allow guns in parked cars on school property. Another wants to expand access to a firearm while on a boat. And one proposal would increase the area in which a person can reasonably discharge their gun in self-defense. Four years after Oklahoma’s Republican Legislature approved "permitless carry," removing any training or licensing requirements to handle a firearm, lawmakers have filed more than 100 bills to expand gun access even further. |

Last week, the House Judiciary Subcommittee killed the remaining anti-Second Amendment bills. Despite efforts from the anti-gun majority in the Senate to restrict your rights, no gun control bills have advanced. The following bills were voted down by the Subcommittee:
Senate Bill 918 bans selling or carrying many firearms and magazines that law-abiding citizens commonly own for legitimate purposes, such as self-defense, competition, and recreation, with no exemption for carry permit holders. |

Joe Biden gave another State of the Union (SOTU) speech last week, and, as most anticipated, it included an attack on our right to keep and bear arms. Biden has hammered away at this theme throughout his term in the White House, and there was nothing in his latest broadside against gun owners that showed any more insight, nuance, or understanding of the subject than his prior efforts. Apparently, not only can you not teach an old dog new tricks, you cannot teach an old politician to update his script.

A lengthy CBS News report on the impact of last summer’s Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen indicates lingering angst among gun control proponents now faced with the daunting challenge of justifying restrictive gun laws when they may not be “consistent with the nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.” |

Last Friday, February 10th, was the deadline for the majority of bills to pass from their chamber of origin to the opposite chamber. Despite efforts by anti-gun legislators to restrict your rights, no gun control bills have advanced. NRA-ILA would like to thank the pro-Second Amendment majorities in the State Senate and the House of Representatives for protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.

I grew up in South San Diego near the Tijuana border. Mexican food was a staple for me, along with Mariachi music, plenty of Hispanic friends — and knowing what “El Patrón” meant. I worked one summer for a gardener who made it clear to us he was “El Patrón” and there was no arguing the point, trust me. |

Gun violence surpassed motor vehicles as the number one cause of death for children and youth in 2020 in both the state of Maryland and the United States at large. While there are many factors that contribute to this reality, one critical component is the ease in which children can gain access to firearms within their homes and the homes of friends and family. |

After the Supreme Court struck down New York’s overreaching gun control law last year, New York City declared Times Square to be a “gun-free zone.” Shockingly, this did not prevent a man from being shot and killed there last Thursday. “The shooting was the first since the creation of the expansive, signposted zone,” according to the New York Times, “and it immediately renewed questions about whether such a designation can truly protect the area.”

I’ve been a fan of the Saint line from Springfield Armory since it was released in late 2016. Since then, Springfield has continued to expand the line to meet consumer demand for more feature-rich AR-15s. On Springfield’s website, the Saint Edge is described as the “cream of the crop” of ARs. With all the upgraded features comes an upgraded price tag. Is the Edge worth the additional dollars on top of the base price? Keep reading to decide for yourself.
