Bear hunting is under fire in California—again. The Humane Society of the United States has submitted a petition to the California Game and Fish Commission seeking to block bear hunting in The Golden State indefinitely. This is the second time anti-hunting advocates have tried to ban bear hunting in California in as many years. In early 2021, State Senator Scott Weiner of San Francisco put forth a legislative bill to outlaw bear hunting—but quickly pulled it after immediate backlash from the hunters in California and beyond.

A school district in Wyoming recently used a gymnasium as a shooting range, training fifth and sixth grade students in marksmanship during PE.
Hot Springs County School District #1, in the small town of Thermopolis, shared photos of the sharpshooting session in a Feb. 2 Facebook post, and it quickly caught the attention of thousands. McClatchy News has obtained a screengrab of the Facebook post, which is no longer publicly available.
In the pictures, the children are seen aiming air rifles across the gym at a set of targets propped up against the bleachers with what appears to be plywood. |

Nearly 30 percent of all firearms sold last year went to new gun owners, according to a retailer survey conducted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). The findings indicate at least 5.4 million people purchased one for the first time in 2021. The figure represents a 10 percent decrease from 2020, when a similar survey’s results—based on estimates calculated from the FBI’s National Instant Background Check System (NICS) volume—found 40 percent first-time gun buyers, roughly 8.4 million.

This isn’t to say it’s not worth pursuing or incredibly difficult, but your efforts might be in vain before you even begin if you don’t know a few key aspects of the process.

After being amended multiple times over the last year-and-a-half, an omnibus anti-gun bill is headed to the desk of Gov. Phil Scott. S.30, by Sen. Phil Baruth, started out as a “location restriction,” banning firearms in hospitals. However, the bill has morphed into much more than that, adding multiple layers from the wish list of anti-gun politicians in Montpelier. It is important that NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters contact Governor Scott and ask him to VETO S.30! |

A Philadelphia ordinance requiring residents to report to authorities when firearms are lost or stolen has been ruled illegal by a Pennsylvania court. A three-judge panel on Monday reversed a lower court order and placed a permanent injunction on the city's 2009 gun control ordinance, preventing the city from enforcing the measure. The case stems from a man charged with violating the "lost and stolen" reporting mandate, and Philadelphia authorities had sought a $2,000 fine for violating the ordinance. |
