I have been reloading for over 45 years and casting my own bullets for almost as long. The main reason I got into loading and casting, like many others, was to make my shooting dollars go farther. Over the years my first single-stage RCBS Rock Chucker — which I still use for some cartridges — has morphed into much more equipment. It has become a major investment.

Thanks to Second Amendment supporters around the Commonwealth ceaselessly voicing their opposition to a sweeping gun ban, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-5 to reject House Bill 961 on February 17th. Bloomberg’s House majority in the General Assembly is not going to deliver their most coveted agenda item to their billionaire master. |

Odd-looking primer strikes such as those above don’t necessarily suggest a problem with a particular gun or its ammo. They could merely be an element of a particular firearm’s design, but they might require further attention. I have several brands and sizes of 1911 pistols as well as a SIG Sauer P220 and P245, all chambered in .45 ACP. |

The campaigns of Democrats seeking to challenge President Donald Trump in November 2020 seem to be on a never-ending quest to see which one can implode in the most spectacular fashion. We’ve documented the collapse of Representatives Eric Swalwell and Robert Francis O’Rourke, as well as predicted the demise of Senator Kamala Harris. Senator Cory Booker has also left the building, and Senator Elizabeth Warren has seen her support fade precipitously. |

When it comes to shotgun ammunition, there are plenty of choices. And while most shooters are very familiar with certain types, like the 00 buck, each bullet size and pellet count is different. The size of the buckshot bullets, or “shot,” will decrease as the shot type number increases – with buckshot for larger game and bird shot for smaller game. This means 000 buck is very large compared to #12 bird shot – with #1 buck right in the middle. |

Eleven children were wounded by gunfire over a weekend that saw a total of 26 people shot in Chicago, including three fatalities. A 17-year-old girl shot in Logan Square early Monday was the latest child victim. She was walking with her friend, a 19-year-old man, at 12:14 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Harding Avenue when three males approached in a tan SUV and asked if they wanted to buy drugs, according to Chicago police. When they refused, someone in the SUV fired shots, hitting the girl in the foot. She was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition. |

When USPSA introduced Carry Optics (CO) as a provisional division in 2014 the concept was simple—it would be a Production division gun with a reflex sight. The gun had to be on the approved Production gun list, with the reflex sight mounted directly to the slide and not the frame. The magazine carriers and holster requirements were the same as Production, and regardless of the caliber chosen all scoring would be in Minor (125 PF).

The process for bringing a new editor onto the staff of American Rifleman usually involves reviewing previous written work, various tests of editing skill and firearm knowledge, then, of course, interviews. The latter cannot always be done in person, so we found ourselves interrogating a prospective associate editor in Texas via Skype.

There were few seats remaining as the Tucker County Commission President Lowell Moore called the meeting to order. With such a large crowd present for specific agenda items, Moore went slightly out of order to allow the audience the option to leave after the main topic of the Second Amendment was discussed. Reverend Kevin Keplinger asked for the blessing over the meeting followed by The Pledge of Allegiance. |
