The .30 Super Carry is a handgun cartridge recently introduced by Federal Ammunition as a new product for concealed carry and self-defense uses. On their website, Federal Premium calls the .30 Super Carry “The most revolutionary advancement in self-defense history in almost 100 years.” Well, I want to understand their claim, look at the new cartridge specifications and features, compare it to the popular 9mm Luger or Parabellum, 9x19mm round, understand some of its ballistics and performance advantages and limitations, and give my opinions about this new load to help shooters, both new ones and experienced. |

If you own a 9mm handgun for personal protection, you probably want to know exactly, beyond any doubt, what ammunition will works best if you have to use it. Well, this article will answer the question of what’s the best 9mm ammo as definitively as it can be answered. But as a former uniformed officer, I feel obliged to point out that there’s no telling exactly how an attacker might react to getting shot with any given projectile.
The best we can do is say which loads are most likely to do the job. The velocity and energy figures on ammo boxes don’t tell us much about how a bullet will react on impact or how deep it will penetrate. |

The Arizona House on Thursday approved two Republican-backed bills that would loosen gun laws by allowing firearms in libraries and many other public buildings and by permitting loaded weapons to be carried in vehicles on school grounds.
Both measures passed on 31-28 party-line votes with no Democratic support and now go to the Senate for action.
Debates on two other proposals — one allowing guns on university campuses and another to let people between 18 and 20 years of age get provisional concealed weapons permits — were delayed. |

State Rep. Christopher Hurt, the lead sponsor for the state House bill, didn’t immediately respond to messages from ABC News for comment. A representative for state Sen. Joey Hensley, who introduced the state Senate version of the bill, told ABC News in a statement that “the bill only allows you to carry a gun where police can, but it does NOT make you a police officer.” The representative did not provide more clarification. |

The Justice Department announced Wednesday that it’s suing the state of Missouri over a new gun rights law that blocks local police from enforcing certain federal firearms measures and has been decried by critics as unconstitutional.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act, which went into effect in August, is considered among the most wide-reaching gun rights bills in the United States. The law, passed by the state’s GOP-led legislature and signed by the Republican governor, allows private citizens to sue local jurisdictions or governments for $50,000 if they believe their Second Amendment rights have been violated. |

The Alabama Constitution states, “Every citizen has a fundamental right to bear arms in defense of himself or herself and the state.”
As you can see, we should not be required to get a permission slip from the government to protect ourselves in the best way available – carrying a gun in the manner we choose.
Our state legislators are considering bills to eliminate the requirement of a permit to carry a firearm concealed, thereby restricting themselves from infringing on our rights.
Permits will remain available for purchase. Some folks will still need one or want one for travel to other states and perhaps other reasons. |

Dorr said SF102 did not go far enough to protect gun owners.
“Our … bill, which is the best draft you’ll ever see here in Cheyenne, covers every single conceivable firearm, ammunition or accessory that you happen to own that touches on the Second Amendment,” he said.
Dorr criticized SF102 as giving too much authority to law enforcement officers and government officials as opposed to regular citizens.
“You have no enforcement for the citizens and no major civil penalties to serve as the … positive reinforcement to remind Wyoming law enforcement agencies not to violate (the act),” he said.
The bill would also allow the state to work with federal agencies and use federal money to enforce gun rules, Dorr said. |

The prosecution's own witness may have delivered a setback in the theater shooting murder trial of former Tampa police captain Curtis Reeves.
Lead detective Alan Proctor had a rough day on the witness stand.
"I’m not computer savvy. I’m not. definitely. video savvy," explained the detective.
The now-retired Pasco County Sheriff's Office detective was the first to interview Reeves after he shot and killed Chad Oulson after the two argued about texting in a Wesley Chapel movie theater in 2014. |

On Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee heard testimony on four BFA-supported bills.
The committee heard opponent and interested party testimony on Senate Bill 215, sponsored by Sen. Terry Johnson, for Constitutional Carry. This was the bill's third hearing in this committee. This bill continues to advance rapidly and may be scheduled for a committee vote soon, whereupon it would then head to the House floor for a final vote.
SB 215 has already passed the Senate. If it passes the House, it would then be presented to the Governor for his signature. |

State lawmakers should be able to agree on at least one small improvement to gun safety in Wisconsin following the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal in Kenosha.
Lawmakers should quickly close the loophole in state law that allowed Rittenhouse, a minor at the time, to march down Kenosha’s streets on Aug. 25, 2020, intimidating others with a semi-automatic rifle that he couldn’t legally buy — and never should have been allowed to carry.
Rittenhouse shot three people that night, killing two of them. A jury agreed he acted in self-defense, based on state law that favors shooters in conflicts. |

More firearm legislation is headed to the Oklahoma House for a vote. House Bill (HB-3069) would grant municipalities the authority to allow city employees to carry concealed firearms while at work or on duty. The bill would amend various prohibited locations and properties that are currently restricted such as properties, buildings, structures, and office space that is owned by the city which does business with the public.

It’s typical of the biased coverage of gun rights that the Los Angeles Times’ article on the Remington gun case in Connecticut got its implications wrong. On Tuesday, the families of those killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre at a Connecticut school reached a $73 million settlement with Remington, the manufacturer of the gun used in the killings.
But the article did not note how crime actually has gone down sharply the past three decades as gun purchases nationally have soared. Homicides have dropped almost in half, from 9.71 per 100,000 population in 1991, to 4.96 in 2018. During this time conceal-carry laws, which let law-abiding citizens carry guns on their persons, have proliferated and now are on the books in most states. |

But that doesn't mean DeWine's endorsement will be universally cheered by the Republican base. For activists like Strongsville GOP leader Shannon Burns, DeWine's endorsement will be more like a rigged coronation than a genuine show of support.
DeWine has faced criticism from fellow Republicans over how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic and whether he's backed former President Donald Trump enough. DeWine has always had detractors in the pro-Second Amendment community for not being a "gun guy."
"In my mind, the establishment’s endorsement on Friday will be the fake endorsement," said Burns, who is also a member of the Ohio Republican Party's state central committee.

Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told legislators Wednesday that there was no evidence that banning the sale of high-capacity firearm magazines deterred violence and that the ban was likely to be found unconstitutional.
“There is no evidence that this type of ban is going to decrease violence in Washington, none whatsoever,” said Knezovich.
He was addressing the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee that is reviewing Senate Bill 5078, which passed in that chamber by a 28-20 vote last week.
Gun control advocates are claiming a victory because this is the first time a limit on firearm magazine capacity has made it through a chamber. The bill would ban the sale of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. |

The police force played a big part in the stop-and-frisk era, a largely criticized practice for targeting young Black and Latino men across the city, which did little to actually lower crime rates. According to the New York Bar Association, at the peak of stop-and-frisk, close to 700,000 stops were made but only 6 percent resulted in arrests and 2 percent in recovery of weapons. The report also found that 85 percent of those stopped were Black and Latino and overwhelmingly male. |

Whistleblowers first sounded the alarm about the ATF database back in November, but subsequent investigations by gun rights groups and pro-Second Amendment lawmakers have revealed the extent of the ATF’s data collection. Using various legal loopholes, the ATF is acquiring tens of millions of transaction records on American citizens. A new battle line has been drawn in the United States’ gun-control debate in the wake of a controversial ruling by an appeals court, which found that two Southern California counties acted unconstitutionally by closing gun shops at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Circuit Judge Lawrence VanDyke, part of a three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that ruled on the case, said Ventura County and Los Angeles County violated the Second Amendment by shutting down gun and ammunition stores in March 2020 and declaring them non-essential businesses. |
