Jackson County could join a growing list of Michigan counties to adopt a resolution supporting gun rights.
The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will consider a resolution at its Tuesday, Feb. 18 meeting to make the county a Second Amendment sanctuary county. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Jackson County Tower Building, 120 W. Michigan Ave.
Through the resolution, the board would support the sheriff and prosecutor in efforts to “not enforce against any citizen an unconstitutional firearms law.” The full proposed resolution can be seen, here.
A number of county commissioners suggested support when the resolution was brought to the board in January by a grassroots group. |

Monday’s vote by Virginia lawmakers to “shelve” a proposed ban on so-called “assault weapons” was a defeat for anti-gun Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam for sure, but it was also a slap down for billionaire Michael Bloomberg and his Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund which spent $2.5 million last year to swing the legislature to Democrat control. |

The Colorado legislature is exploring the right of business owners and employees to utilize self-defense with the proposed expansion of the ‘Make My Day’ law. House Bill 20-1168 is designed to piggyback off a law passed in Colorado in 1985 — the Homeowner Protection Act. The act, better known as the 'Make My Day' law, was designed to protect homeowners against intruders by granting them the right to use deadly force without the possibility of prosecution. |

Looking for an indication of how important a single race for a single elected position can be for gun owners? Look no further than Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Josh Shapiro. In 2016, Donald Trump narrowly carried the Keystone State, but—thanks to Michael Bloomberg’s generous support of gun-hating candidates—Shapiro prevailed in his race to become attorney general. With a unanimous vote, Brunswick County Commissioners passed a “Constitutional Protected Rights County” resolution at their regular meeting Monday, joining a growing number of counties across the country adopting similar nonbinding designations. In effect, the resolution is not actionable — the right to own and carry a firearm is already protected by the Second Amendment. It is, however, a symbolic and political gesture.

Leupold’s selection of rifle and handgun scopes is extensive and highly regarded, and, in recent years, the company has also made inroads in the area of miniature reflex sights. One of the Democrats’ favorite talking points on gun control is that we don’t need military weapons of war on America’s streets. Former mayor Pete Buttigieg has been the most effective of the presidential candidates at making this claim, because of his military background. If anyone knows whether a gun is a military weapon, it is surely an Afghanistan War veteran who was trained on these weapons. |

In the 1970s the hair was long, the gas was rationed, the interest rates were astronomical and the prevalent fashions could foment blindness if unduly gazed upon. In addition to all this pervasive grooviness, the ’70s also saw the glorious genesis of the absolute worst defensive firearm in all of human history. This steaming pile of ballistic doodoo was curiously titled the Clerke First. |

For about the last 5 years or so the popular Dot-Torture drill and target have been showing up in a multitude of defensive courses, both introductory and advanced in nature. If you aren’t familiar with this routine, it is a simple 50-round defensive pistol drill that incorporates nearly every aspect of using a gun for self-defense. While the program encourages a smooth draw, transition and trigger squeeze, it has two fundamental flaws.
