"Congress doesn’t need to hold hearings on this. They simply need to draft a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder and ATF Director B. Todd Jones demanding truthful and complete answers. This is all it will take. If the AG and Holder will answer honestly, this will be soon be resolved for good."

"Congress, you game? Will you oversee what we have elected you to monitor? The Department of Justice has already told the Court they are not willing to investigate the allegations made against them. Will you help me? I am only seeking the truth."

"Here are twenty-one questions for Holder and Jones to get you started." ...

... "In the doctor’s case, Berberian revealed the standards he wants imposed when he argued Simon sought a confrontation and should have locked himself in his home (presumably making sure he could safely usher his wife in first). Berberian also criticized the number of firearms Simon owned, alleging that showed the doctor was 'hypersensitive,' and prone to using unlawful deadly force due to 'a victimization complex.'” ...

"The pro-rights gun blog Guns Save Lives reported Monday that Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA) introduced a bill earlier this month that would impose a 10-year prison sentence for the 'crime' of a private citizen obtaining 'enhanced' body armor:" ...

"As mentioned above, not all body armor would be banned--just the 'enhanced' kind. Honda defines 'enhanced' body armor as that which is rated by the National Institute of Justice as Type III or higher. Generally speaking, Type III body armor is rigid, designed to wear over one's clothes, and expected to protect against many kinds of centerfire rifle fire ... In short, Honda wants private citizens shot with rifles to die." ...

... "The [NRA] ... swept through the south in its early incarnation, registering black members, teaching them the ins and outs of gun use and safety, pointing to firearms as a means of protecting their newly won rights after the Civil War. ..."

"And it was gun rights advocates and second amendment enthusiasts who stood shoulder to shoulder, at least the most honest and pure ones, with Black Panther groups and other black militant organizations throughout the 1960s against more establishment leaders and stalwarts such as Ronald Reagan and Lyndon Johnson as they led the charge to pass gun registration laws on the state and national levels. ..."

"But far too often modern gun advocates are MIA when it comes to the black community." ...

... "Anti-gun advocates, meanwhile, have always said the opposite -- that Americans do not have an inherent, constitutional right to 'keep and bear arms' (outside of an organized militia), even for self-defense. Many of these people are journalists, by the way."

"Now, however, a number of formerly anti-gun reporters and correspondents are beginning to realize the importance of the Second Amendment as they digest what happened to cartoonists and writers working at a satirical magazine in Paris, France, recently."

"Unarmed and unprotected by Paris police (who are also unarmed), many are now concerned with their own safety in the newsroom." ...

"The SHOT Show ... is the world’s largest gun show ... it’s intended for those in the trade, not the general public. Walking its almost 16 miles of booths is a near-marathon feat of endurance, and every mile exhibits more firepower than all the armies of the ancient world combined."

"But despite their formidable powers of self-defense, members of the firearms industry are a nervous lot — and not without reason. Two years ago, after Newtown and the 2012 election, the show anxiously awaited President Obama’s executive actions on gun control. ... This year, executive actions were back on the agenda: with the midterm elections now past, the industry fears there’s nothing to stop the president from indulging his anti-firearms instincts." ...

"It serves the interests of the gun lobby to paint the picture in such stark and simplistic terms, that the only option to gun violence is to ban guns. But it is a far from realistic portrayal. It is not the platform of the Democratic Party to ban guns outright, nor that of any major Democratic politicians, from Barack Obama on down, despite the suggestion created by the quote used above, that," ...

"The controversy involves an Everytown for Gun Safety report titled 'Hiding in Plain Sight.' The report, according to The Blaze, alleged that investigators found more than 1,000 online gun sale advertisements from unlicensed sellers, suggesting that no background checks would be performed on the buyers. "Some anti-rights activists are sure the rules don’t apply to them. They have armed bodyguards while they want to make sure you’re disarmed. Simply stated, the rich gun-grabbers have one set of rules for them, and a different set of rules that apply to you. Listen to what they say and see what they do."

"Jonathan Romans is an active member of both anti-self-defense groups Moms Demand Action and the [CSGV]. He often comments on their pages. Mister Romans called for harassment and violence against law abiding gun owners. He said,"

'The beauty of this strategy is in many situations, the feds just don’t have the manpower or resources to get the job done without help from the states. They depend on the states for pretty much everything,' he continued."

"'States have the power to virtually shut down most federal programs within their borders simply by saying, 'No!' We generally call these acts nullification, but some disagree. John Hickenlooper, all of which happened two years ago. "The Texas gun debate has gone wild, wild West."

"A confrontation between gun owners and a state lawmaker who later was given a state security detail. Panic buttons installed in legislative offices. Guns made and displayed at the Capitol gates."

"What many thought was a slam-dunk in the Republican-controlled Legislature — allowing the open carry of handguns in Texas — turned into a tempest in the opening weeks of the session. And its chances of passing seemed to further diminish when one of the state’s most outspoken conservatives flip-flopped on whether it’s even a priority issue." ...

"The 7th Circuit federal court of appeals will hear a case against a local ban on some common rifles, handguns, shotguns, and magazines. The city of Highland Park, notorious for its anti-second amendment laws, passed an ordinance that requires residents to turn in, modify or remove the banned items from the city. ... The ordinance includes very broad boilerplate language. Some claim that the ordinance was lifted from the City of Chicago."

"The definitions are broad and cover most semi-automatic rifles, and a fair number of pistols and shotguns. Highland Park has a very low crime rate, so it is hard to justify the ban as having any practical effect, except to anger second amendment supporters and to make a symbolic statement." ...

"The survey was conducted by the Benenson Strategy Group, described by the newspaper as 'a left-leaning firm whose CEO has worked for both President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.' "But let’s say you’re among most Americans who fall into neither camp. Although you’ve never seen a real gun, you know guns from movies or TV shows. Or at least you think you do. You don’t know what to make of the polarized fringes to the far right or the far left. "When the Seattle Times yesterday published an editorial applauding the ban on open carry in the visitors' galleries of the House and Senate chambers, and then in public hearings, it warned readers leaving comments that there would be 'No personal attacks or insults, no hate speech…'"

"This was after the Times editorial, in the second paragraph, alluded to 'a group of knuckleheads, openly armed to the teeth.' While that may be what a some people, even in the firearms community, think of the folks whose actions precipitated the ban, a newspaper that doesn’t practice what it preaches probably should not pontificate about what is in the best public interest." ...
