"Well our neighbors to the south - i.e., Arkansas - have made the news again ... This time, their state legislature has passed a law dealing with guns in church. In essence it says that people who are registered gun toters can carry them in the sanctuary of their church." ...
"I understand that about 20 states already allow people to carry guns to church, which really seems strange to me. Obviously they don't read the same Bible that I do ... Jesus says in the New [Testament] ... that we should love one another. ... FULL TEXT BELOW:
More evidence this morning that, among our many thousands of law-abiding handgun permit holders, some maybe shouldn't be walking around with a gun. Knox County school board member Bill Phillips has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for threatening his wife with his handgun. This follows the killing in those always-sketchy Memphis suburbs in which police say a permit holder shot another guy in the chest in an argument over the parking of their respective giant SUVs. And then there are those ominous messages left for Memphis Commercial Appeal executives who posted the state's public-record list of the names of permit holders. We're keeping it all on file here. Just another public service from Pith in the Wind. |

"A gambit that has become popular of late with the forcible citizen disarmament lobby is blaming the violence in Mexico ... on 'lax U.S. gun laws.' Mexico, of course, has extremely restrictive gun laws and extreme levels of violence. One might think that this would be a pretty strong rebuttal to the idea of trying to control violence by passing more and more gun laws (as if using laws to try to rein in the behavior of the lawless makes any sense). Such an expectation underestimates the stubborn determination of gun law advocates, who somehow find the energy to perform the rhetorical gymnastics required to argue instead that violence in Mexico should be blamed on 'weak gun laws' here, where violence is much less pervasive." ... |

perusing the websites of enthusiastic anti-gunners, I was struck by the incorrect perception they have of those of us who carry a gun. They apparently believe that we stride around like John Wayne, swaggering a bit because of the big iron on our hip.
