This news story is the follow-up to an article I forwarded a few months ago, the Idaho man whom faced a five year felony "hate-crime" sentence for calling his wife's attacker the "N-word"(1).
Justice in America nolonger applies equally.

“We have no indicators that this child is violent or that he’s going to target anyone,” [Sgt. D.J.] Alvarez.

People who have tried heroin and cocaine or have a drunken driving conviction are no longer automatically disqualified from becoming Virginia state troopers.
"It's the right thing to do in some situations," said Lt. Col. Donald R. Martin, the agency's deputy superintendent.
"I think it would lower the standards," one officer said. "You got to be real careful when you start dealing with hard drugs."
KABA NOTE: And what about "lowering the standards" and not imprisoning *citizens* because of the same "crimes" then? Or are they going to get a choice - jail or a state trooper job (like they used to do for the armed forces)? |

The federal government will ask the Supreme Court of Canada today to give Cabinet absolute power to conceal its documents -- and to place such decisions beyond the scrutiny of any judge.
The government will face a challenge from its own staff lawyers who are seeking a landmark ruling that would give the public access to information about why ministers made certain decisions. |
