FULL TEXT BELOW... ------- Los Angeles County, California, agreed to pay organizers of the nation's largest gun show $1.6 million in two lawsuits brought by show organizers who were banned from holding the event on county property, the Los Angeles Times reported Feb. 14.
In 1999, Los Angeles County passed an ordinance prohibiting the sale of guns or ammunition on county property.
Organizers of the Great Western Gun Show sued, saying the ban violated the First Amendment.
As part of the settlement, the ordinance will stand, but the county must credit organizers for rental costs.
In commenting on the settlement, Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, who introduced the ordinance, said, "I'm not completely happy with it, but it's a good business decision. I'm pleased that our right to determine what gets sold on county property has been affirmed. I'm not pleased that we had to shell out this kind of money."
Organizers of the gun show are considering Dallas, Texas, as the new venue for the event. |

"Back for its 13th try, concealed gun legislation is again making its way through the Missouri Legislature."
"The House Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committee endorsed a bill Thursday that would let Missourians age 21 and older apply for a permit to carry a concealed gun. The legislation now heads to the House."
"Under the bill, applicants would be charged a $100 fee, of which $38 would go for background checks performed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FBI. The rest of the money would go to local sheriffs for their work on the matter. Annual renewal of the permit would cost $50." ...
CONSIDER...
$100 and $50 a year, plus background checks, fingerprints, etc. -- to turn a right into a privilege. Why so restrictive? Here is the main answer:
"Rep. Larry Crawford, the bill's sponsor, said he had worked with law enforcement officials to reach a compromise on some of the bill's language." Missouri law enforcement officials are lucky gun owners are inclined to seek civil resolutions. Their opposition to allowing lawful, peaceable people to protect themselves and their families without prior restraints certainly doesn't warrant civility.
Missouri Constitution Article I, Section 23:
That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned; but this shall not justify the wearing of concealed weapons. |

Original Title: "Violence in the Middle East"
This article reports on where and how Jews are being violently attacked around the world. The United States attacks on Jews tell quite a story. Notice that all but one took place in cities where Jews, like all citizens, are banned from defending themselves in public places:
Temple Beth El in Syracuse, New York was gutted by explosion and fire on October 13.
In separate incidents, two Jews were attacked in a Jewish neighborhood of Chicago on October 12.
Five shots were fired at a Chicago rabbi while he was in his car. The rabbi escaped unharmed. In the same neighborhood, Arab youths shot marbles from slingshots at Jewish passers-by.
Arson attack on synagogue in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Yom Kippur, October 9.
On October 8 (Yom Kippur) in New York City, bottles thrown at Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel broke the synagogue's glass front door.
------- If the American Jewish community would wake up and open its collective eyes, they'd discover that gun control is anti-Semitic. Instead of listening to the modern-day Judenrat at the "Anti Defamation League," they ought to be listening to Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. |
