BRYAN, Tex., (KBTX) - A Bryan Assistant Police Chief arrested this week for assault causing bodily injury has been charged with that crime before, KBTX has learned.
Wayland Rawls, 47, turned himself in Wednesday. Witnesses said Rawls punched the man several times in the head and body causing injuries.
KBTX has been taking a closer look at Rawls' background and found he was charged with misdemeanor assault causing bodily injury in Harris County back in 1991.
Rawls' attorney David Hillburn reached out to KBTX Thursday. He says Rawls was never convicted of the 1991 assault, but rather received deferred adjudication in 1992 and it was terminated in 1993.

Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg’s gun control group is planning to spend at least $8m in Texas to elect state and federal politicians who support what it calls “gun sense” laws, including requiring background checks before all gun sales.
Last year, Everytown for Gun Safety poured at least $2.5m into state races in Virginia, backing candidates who supported tougher gun laws and helping to elect a Democratic state house majority for the first time in 26 years.
Now, it is pledging to use the same tactics in Texas, one of the most gun-friendly states in the nation. |

The youngest population demographics entered this world connected to the digital matrix even before being thrust into an incubator, as their lifeclock sped from the blank tablet of triple zeroes into a frenzied conglomeration with the meticulous principles of quantum time. Directly from the onset of existence, at no other point in human history, had the flesh and the blood assimilated to the idea of digital convenience and the frenetic dash for validation, even before uttering their first word.

There’s an interesting federal court case unfolding in Illinois in which two gun rights organizations — the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) — are suing the State Police (ISP) over alleged diversion of more than $29 million from ISP funds to other purposes, resulting in a dramatic slowdown in approval of applications for Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) cards and concealed carry licenses (CCLs).

As reported by AmmoLand News a few days ago, anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety—which he helped found with a $50 million cash infusion—is targeting Texas for takeover by gun prohibitionist politicians, and now the Everytown “Victory Fund” is begging for bucks via email to make it happen.

And, of course, legally owning any kind of gun in Denmark is all but impossible, and forceful self-defense is essentially illegal. Violent criminals have a right to expect no resistance from their victims. The foregoing pretty-well describes the “socialist utopia” of Denmark.
Curiously, I don’t notice many Democrats moving there! |

Today, Congressman Michael Guest’s campaign announced that he has received the endorsement in this 2020 election cycle from the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) political victory fund.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement from the NRA, and I will always support our 2nd Amendment rights,” said Congressman Michael Guest. “As a former prosecutor, I know how important it is for law-abiding citizens to have the right for self-defense as well as for hunting and shooting sports. As a Congressman, I’ve seen how many lawmakers on the left want to erode our 2nd Amendment rights, and that’s why we must remain vigilant about protecting it along with all other Constitutional liberties and freedoms.” |

Today, the Maryland House Judiciary Committee voted to withdraw gun ban legislation, House Bill 1261, from consideration. Following tens of thousands of calls/emails from NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters, this extreme anti-gun legislation is now dead for the year.
House Bill 1261, sponsored by Speaker Adrienne Jones and Delegates Eric Luedtke and Vanessa Atterbeary, significantly expands the number of firearms that are subject to Maryland’s already extreme prohibition on so-called “assault” firearms. This includes some of the most popular and commonly-owned semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns in existence. |

Waynesboro Borough Council, along with a standing-room-only crowd, listened to a presentation by Val Finnell, Pennsylvania director for Gun Owners of America, that detailed a proposal for the borough to consider becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary Wednesday night.
Finnell asked the borough to pass an ordinance that would designate Waynesboro as a Second Amendment sanctuary, which the Gun Owners of America (GOA) claims will protect citizens from the enforcement of gun control measures that violate the Second Amendment. |

Justice Scalia cited United States vs Miller, a still valid 1939 ruling that allowed laws banning private ownership of ”... weapons not typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes ...” Short-barreled shotguns, machine guns and M-16 rifles were specifically mentioned as weapons that could be banned by federal or state laws. The AR-15 is the civilian version (upgradable to fully automatic) of the military grade M-16. Other assault rifles differ from the AR-15 about as much as a Ford differs from a Chevrolet. |

There was talk of technology and did “The Founders” realize there would eventually be multi-shot weapons.
A single mother told of teaching her now-Marine daughter to shoot well enough to earn an “expert marksman” badge; a Korean teenager said the Second Amendment was “uniquely American.”
There was talk that the resolution before the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders Wednesday was “pointless”; and that it was “necessary to stand up for our rights.” |

People openly carried guns, even assault rifles, to the recent gun rally at the Capitol. The reason for brandishing guns is hard to fathom. The purpose for holding a rally is to make a statement, a democratic way of clarifying a group’s position on an issue. The question, then, to the armed participants is: What exactly did you have in mind? What is the unarmed citizen to think? Are the guns meant to intimidate, to bully the majority? That’s not democracy, that’s fascism. |
