Firebrand freshman Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-3rd District) is fighting back against claims she has a “gun fetish” for sitting in on a House Natural Resources Committee hearing via Zoom from her Colorado district office with a pair of modern sporting rifles and a pistol on a shelf in the background.

Anti-gun California Rep. Jared Huffman was quoted by the Washington Post declaring, “If somebody wants to have a shrine to their gun fetish as a Zoom backdrop in their private life, they can do that. But this is our hearing room, and at some point we will get past the COVID epidemic and we’ll all start showing up in person.”

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch used a February 20, 2021, editorial to suggest President Joe Biden could make the left’s gun control dreams come true.

The editorial opened with:

Three years ago last Sunday, a gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17. The deadliest high school shooting in U.S. history mobilized students and others to demand sane national gun policy, only to be thwarted by an obstinate Republican Party in the thrall of the National Rifle Association.

The controversial stand your ground bill already defeated once this legislative session is back on the agenda for Tuesday, and with a new twist. A proposed amendment would allow killers to invoke the stand your ground defense even if they shoot someone in a place where guns are legally prohibited. Members of the gun rights group Gun Owners of Arkansas opposed a previous version of the NRA-backed Senate Bill 24, but say they worked with sponsor Rep. Aaron Pilkington (R-Clarksville) on an amendment.

Montana H.B. 102 was introduced in January, 2021, and will permit Montana residents to carry a concealed firearm for personal protection in most places in the state without first acquiring a permit from the government. The bill passed out of the state legislature on February 5. Now, Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) has signed the bill into law. “Every law-abiding Montanan should be able to defend themselves and their loved ones. That’s why today, I’m signing H.B. 102 into law,” said Gianforte before signing the bill.

We all have a wide assortment of gun cleaning tools/products and some of you may be wondering why we are writing about another. Very simply, the Real Avid Bore Boss is totally unique and a must-have for every hunter who ventures into the field. It can also come in handy at the shooting range. When packing for an overnight or multi-day hunt, it is a rare person who takes their gun cleaning stuff with them. Yet, it is all too common for us to get dirt in the muzzle or action while hunting and then the dilemma becomes: how to clean it out?

CrossBreed has long been a pioneer of the hybrid holster. In fact, they are probably the most well-respected hybrid maker on the market. Pretty much everything they make, with a few exceptions, is a combination of leather backer and Kydex molded shell front. So when they sent me the Hybrid ST2 IWB Holster to try with my Glock 17, I wasn’t surprised by how much I liked it.

If there’s an idea that most people should embrace, at least in my opinion for whatever that’s worth and at that probably not much, it’s that you should make informed decisions. Informed decisions are based on reality, on what’s observable or measurable and established rather than resting on logic and principle alone. Principles are fine, but if your principles are at odds with reality, you’re working with faulty principles.

Last September, AmmoLand hosted one of my articles about a resolution being considered by the Halifax County Board of Supervisors to support a local militia. The move was in response to unprecedented gun grabs being enacted in Virginia and was one of a number of responses that include establishing what are being called “Second Amendment sanctuaries.” The Halifax resolution didn’t go forward due to self-imposed ignorance and gutlessness on the part of a critical mass of supervisors, and predictable misrepresentation and fear-mongering by the media.

In Missouri’s fight to protect gun laws, Camden County has become the state’s first Second Amendment sanctuary county. The Second Amendment Preservation Act, which is currently before the state Senate, will aim to invalidate federal restrictions on responsible gun ownership. This would include tracking sales taxes and prohibitions on possessing, owning or transferring firearms.

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte last week signed a bill recognizing that law-abiding Montana gun owners 18 or older may carry a concealed firearm without written authorization from the government. The measure approved by the Republican governor, HB 102, was approved 68-30 by the state House and 29-21 by the state Senate, largely along party lines earlier this month. Gianforte signed the proposal last Thursday.

The XPB series is a line of ammo created and distributed by Barnes Bullets (well known among reloaders), an ammunition manufacturer based in Utah. These bullets are only used in large caliber handgun ammo, from the .357 up to .500 S&W and everything in between. The Barnes XPB features various nose shapes, but one thing is standard across every bullet type – the hollow point. This allows for maximum expansion on impact and phenomenal stopping power, no matter what you’re shooting. This particular style of ammunition is great for home defense, and is also fairly popular among handgun hunters who go after game like hogs and other handgun-friendly targets.

Caught on camera - a bold thief steals a gun from a man open-carrying at a gas station. The crime happened in January, but Detroit police has just released the video of the incident hoping to get the gun and the perpetrator - off the streets.

A surveillance camera at the BP at Seven Mile and Wyoming captured the perp in a red Nike hoodie walking up behind a 53-year-old man open carrying a pistol.

He yanks it from the holster, points it at the victim, and takes off running with a second man who appears to be a partner in crime.

"It’s just frustrating because someone may get shot, robbed, and then the guy who lost the gun is going to feel like, you know," said Steve Dolunt.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. — Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1.
