Holland & Holland, a firearms company from England, developed the .375 H&H Magnum in 1912 – a cartridge that would eventually come to be called the “Queen of the Medium Bores.” The .375 H&H Mag was specifically designed for hunting big game in Africa, and it was successful. The cartridge is sufficient to harvest any large game animal on the continent, including the Big Five species. Although it's been around for over 100 years, it still warrants respect, and is often chosen by both professional hunters and sportsmen. The .375 is the base of Holland & Holland's most popular cartridge, the .300 H&H Magnum. |

When the United States entered World War I on April 6, 1917, much of the weaponry desperately required was in short supply, most specifically some of the more advanced items. This included Browning’s groundbreaking Model 1911 pistol. So, to fill the gap, the government contracted with Colt and Smith & Wesson to supply roughly 300,00 large-frame double-action revolvers with a cylinder shortened for the 1911’s .45 ACP service cartridge. Both featured a 5.5″ barrel. |

The winter of 1777-1778 was a cold and bitter one for the battle-weary Continental Army at Valley Forge, as it contended with shortages of food, clothing and medical supplies and suffered from starvation, exposure and sickness. George Washington, the commander-in-chief, elected to winter over with his 12,000 troops, plus 400 women and children. During that time, he suffered deeply under the crushing weight of responsibility, not only for them, but also for the cause of the American Revolution. |

The popularity of the AR-15 rifle and its many and diverse variants makes it a juggernaut among American long guns. As a firearm platform, the AR has been sharpened by decades of military service, not just with the U.S. military but dozens of other nations as well. Beyond that, the American civilian market for this gun has generated new and increasingly innovative design improvements.

Late last week, Magazine Ban legislation, Senate Bill 5078, was passed out of the House Committee on Civil Rights and Judiciary on a party-line 11-6 vote. Anti-gun legislators are pulling out all the stops to get this measure passed as soon as possible; it now heads to the Rules Committee and it could receive a final vote on the House Floor as early as Wednesday, February 23. It is extremely important that you contact your State Representative and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 5078. |

Senate Democrats are standing in the way of House Republicans who want to expand access to guns. Drivers who have a gun in plain sight are not in violation of Virginia's concealed carry permit laws. But if that gun falls to the floorboard and they don't have a concealed carry permit, they could receive a criminal misdemeanor. Delegate Tim Anderson is a Republican from Virginia Beach who says that's wrong, and he introduced a bill that would decriminalize a first offense for violating Virginia's concealed carry law. |

Three men were arrested on drug and firearms charges stemming from a six-month firearms investigation in South Los Angeles that netted 22 guns. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), along with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Metropolitan Division’s Crime Impact Team (CIT), targeted individuals making Glock-style pistols and AR-style rifles and selling them without a license. Beginning in February 2020, law enforcement began purchasing firearms from the individuals in controlled purchases.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? — Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836 |
