This news couldn't come at a worse time in IL.
Please remind your Republican representatives that concealed carry is not an "extreme right" issue. IL is one of 7 states that doesn't have it, and the provisions of HB401 are probably the most restrictive of the "shall-issue" format (and I apply that term to HB401 loosely). Also remind them that HB401 was introduced by a pair of democrats.
We can't afford to let them knee-jerk the FIOD over Navistar either. |

"A piece of paper does not protect you," Eighth Squad Lt. Vincent Robustelli said yesterday of the order of protection.
What's that? An implication you may want to take responsibility for your own protection? Should we not depend on the courts and police for our safety?
"Detectives recovered the bloody hammer on the street."
Is it time to ban hammers? Should we be storing our hammers separately from our nails? |

At what point should we become alarmed by bigger government?
"Washington-Police who are convinced that a drug suspect will destroy evidence if left alone, may hold him outside his home while they get a warrant."
In a second case exploring the balance between law enforcement and privacy rights, the court also heard the arguments of a man arrested after police outside his house used a heat-measuring device to detect a marijuana-growing operation inside. |

"With the arrest of two suspects in the recent tragic stabbing deaths of the husband and wife Dartmouth College professors, one of the stalwarts of the left-wing media has seen fit to unnecessarily besmirch the NRA, apparently for no good reason other than that a murder has been committed." |

"Critics of permit-to-carry are what I call the 'Chicken Little' types — they claim that the sky will fall and we will have road rage and shoot-outs at every corner with minor traffic accidents," Klein said in an email. "Such suggestions are delusionary. In reality, more than 1 million Americans exercise the right to carry on a daily basis, and we are not seeing shoot-outs and rage, but rather documented drops in rates of violent crime." |

A lawyer stopped a workplace rampage by a gun/incendiary-bomb weilding woman bent on revenge against the legal system. (This sounds remarkably similar to something I read about weeks ago, maybe its a repeat.) |

I saw this movie that will be coming out soon called "Series 7" and in it are many realistic depictions of people getting shot with AR15's and Glock19's. The whole movie is supposed to be real, as in "survivor" or "big brother" or other reality TV shows. I'd be intersted to know what others think of the possible impact on gun lobbying and future laws this film might have due to it's content. |

Rep. Cliff Stearns of Florida has introduced Bill H.R.382 in Congress. This is a good one we can all support without reservations! The Bill would: - Authorize a person who has a permit to carry a concealed firearm in one State to carry a concealed firearm in any other State in accordance with the restrictions of that State. - Exempt current and former law enforcement officers from State laws prohibiting the carrying of concealed handguns. |

Nelson Humphrey awoke early Sunday to find as many as 5 uninvited teenagers in his house. Using a shotgun, he kept in his bedroom, he detained two of the boys. His friend, who came to Humphrey's aid, is facing a felony charge after he allegedly struck one of the boys in the head with a hammer. Humphrey is angry at being twice a victim: once because of the home invasion, and then again from the investigation by the sheriff's deputy. |

"The U.S. Supreme Court passed up a challenge to California's pioneering assault weapons ban, opting Tuesday not to decide if the state is applying the law unconstitutionally. The court, without comment, let stand a lower court decision that upheld the state's ability to selectively add weapons to the list of banned models while allowing the sale of nearly identical guns." --Who are they trying to fool? THAT IS a decision. |

The Senate Courts of Justice Committee amended H.B.1969 to allow cities, towns & counties to skirt the firearms preemption law by banning their employees from carrying concealed into government buildings. It's critical you contact your Senator and ask him or her to reject the Senate Courts of Justice Committee's substitute amendment and restore the bill as the House passed it. www.keepandbeararms.com/information/capitolwiz |

While the shipment contained plants (not guns) it is again more evidence of police-state mentality.
"Despite the fact that the plant materials themselves are legal, and that the shipment from Peru came from a licensed plant dealer and was cleared by Customs and the Department of Agriculture in both Peru and the US, the DEA swooped down on the home of the shipment's recipient and seized the nearly 2,000 pounds of dried plant matter without explanation." |

THE number of armed officers on patrol in Liverpool was doubled yesterday amid fears that a new breed of criminal is resorting to an almost casual use of firearms.
Police are also putting twice as many conventional patrols on to the streets and stopping and searching the vehicles of known criminals. The action has been taken after two young men were shot dead in Liverpool within four days. There have been six other shootings in the past three weeks. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers" delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.' A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power." [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)] |
