"It is sheer idiocy to pretend that the President or anyone else could possess a lawful power that magically appears as needed for every real or pretended emergency – a power for which he must never be called into question.
Does he take a modified Oath to the Constitution that goes something like '...to Protect and Defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic unless something comes up'?" |

Major British paper calls for end to gun control!
"Given this scandalous situation, it is time for the Government to confer a new right on the people: the right to bear arms. Gun control in this country is in any case a joke. There is far more gun crime now than there was before the idiotic law..." -Simon Heffer, Daily Mail columnist |

One of two State Troopers, responding to a call of a "reported disturbance" at a public housing complex, shot and killed a female resident when she opened her door "brandishing" a shotgun.
The police Captain says, "She pointed the shotgun at the officers."
A resident says, "Why not tell her to drop it, put it down? Even if she did have it (gun), that was her house."
KABA NOTE: Yes, it was her house, but she didn't have to answer the door if she thought it was a troublemaker claiming to be the police. Or she could have talked to them through the door explaining that everything was fine inside, or made them wait while she called their HQ confirming that they were, in fact, officers.
If they did announce themselves and she opened the door pointing a shotgun at them, what else could they do but defend themselves? |

NRA spokeswoman Kelly Whitley: "one might be suspicious of a national study that ignored 40 of 50 states ... NRA tends to trust data on this issue from a more reliable source such as the National Center for Health Statistics. Their data shows that accidental firearm deaths, especially among children, have been declining since the 1930s and are currently at an all-time low while the U.S. population has doubled and the number of firearms owned has quadrupled." |

Yep, he's spec'd out a wonder gun, the Mannard Gun, and he's trying to get a law passed to force us to use his design..." |

But the recorder hidden under his jacket and bib overalls suddenly felt as big as a phonebook when eight people met him inside a Muncie clubhouse ... The group, some of them members of a rogue outfit called The Lone Few, routinely threatened to search folks before talking business. Once they found a wire, retribution would be swift. Smith and months of a federal investigation teetered on the brink..." |

"Jacksonville police said that a 13-year-old boy brought a stun gun on to a school bus on Wednesday."
The boy's mother said her son brought the stun gun as protection against a school bully. "He's been choked, he's been beat... and they do nothing about it."
School officials are reviewing his record, to decide whether he will remain at that middle school, or if he will be transferred to an alternative school.
KABA NOTE: A STUN GUN? Maybe they should execute him on the spot! |

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) concerns about the MEHPA include the fact that it:
* Strips individuals and families of rights and liberties
* Provides legal loopholes
* Ignores state rights
* Gives broad power to government and unelected "Public Health" officials
* Slows state ability to respond to an emergency
* Leaves key concepts (like when emergency can be declared) undefined
* Allows "authorities" to ration items, but does not specify how |

What's in a name?
Far too often, a new bill bears a title that fails to reveal the meaning and intent of the law or gives a false idea of what the politicians and bureaucrats are REALLY doing to the Constitution.
Here we are speaking of the Shays-Meehan so-called "Campaign Finance Reform Bill," written by the liberal activist group "Common Cause." |

Ingebrigtsen said that in his view, law-abiding citizens have a right to bear arms given to them by the U.S. Constitution. "If applicants meet legal requirements and give me a good reason why they want to carry a weapon, I will issue them a permit. People have the right to be able to protect themselves."

Hamilton State Sen. Joseph A. Inverso helped lead a rally on the State House steps to urge the Legislature to approve a so-called safe-gun law, employing technology that the weapons industry says is years away.
"We are not gathered here to say that guns should be banned in this country," the Republican lawmaker told the crowd that consisted largely of school children and mothers. "The law is aimed at handguns, not rifles or shotguns."

In its suit to hold gun makers responsible for public health costs of gun violence, the city of Boston and the "Public Health Commission" told Superior Court Judge Nonnie Burns that they "need more time to come up with evidence" of wrongdoing by the defendant gun companies.
On Jan. 20, 2002, Judge Burnes gave the city until this week to "present facts to prove that actions of the (gun makers) caused, contributed to or, at least, were connected to the harm claimed by the city." |
