"HB 2353 requires the Arizona Department of Public Safety to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states that require Arizona recognition prior to recognizing an Arizona-issued concealed weapon permit."
Current Status:
HB 2353 passed the Judiciary Committee unamended.
HB 2353 passed the Federal Mandates and Property Rights Committee amended to clarify that the Department of Public Safety only needs to keep records on individuals with permits issued in the state of Arizona. It also clarifies that a person must have a valid concealed weapon permit issued by another state or political subdivision of another state.
The Committee of the Whole adopted a substitute amendment to the Federal Mandates and Property Rights Committee amendment that clarifies the requirement for Arizona to enter into an agreement with other states that require an agreement prior to recognizing Arizona CCWs. Additionally, it specifies that a person temporarily in Arizona needs a CCW from the state in which they are a resident and that the issuing authority must require a criminal record check in order to reciprocate. |
