The United States’ northern neighbor is bracing for firearm confiscation. What would seem unthinkable just a couple of years ago is now planned to radically shift gun ownership on America’s doorstep in just weeks.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that sweeping new gun control laws would be coming “in months” that would drastically change how firearms are controlled in Canada. The Liberal Party leader made the unilateral announcement that the government would confiscate more than 1,500 makes and models of firearms under an expanded “assault weapon” definition. It’s an estimated 150,000-200,000 firearms. |

It’s never too late to learn, and I have done a bit of that this week. In discussions surrounding the nomination of Merrick Garland as Attorney General, and his flaccid support for the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, I learned that the Second Amendment was somewhat tied in with the Fourteenth Amendment. I never knew that. |

A Florida homicide detective believes an Army veteran committed murder when he pursued and fatally shot a drunk, unarmed neighbor who pounded on his door after midnight, saying prosecutors should have rejected the shooter's self-defense claim.
Lee County sheriff's Lt. David Lebid recently disputed prosecutors' contention that Steve Taylor's 2016 shooting of Ryan Modell is protected under Florida's controversial “stand your ground" law. Modell's father wants Gov. Ron DeSantis to appoint a special prosecutor to review the local state attorney's decision not to charge Taylor. |

House Study Bill 254 allows a law-abiding adult to carry a concealed firearm, without first needing to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. In addition, it also adds the option for law-abiding citizens to pass a federal background check to acquire a handgun without obtaining a Permit to Acquire, ensures that public housing cannot deny Second Amendment rights to tenants, ensures that local governments cannot restrict lawful carrying of firearms, expands the types of training accepted for a Permit to Carry Weapons, and other Second Amendment provisions. |

What is it about the United States of America and the right to own a firearm that makes our country so unique? Some call it freedom culture, the right to personal protection. Our enemies over time have not attacked the USA because they fear our civilian militia. Gun control regulations in the USA are generally permissive, in whole, but are polarized politically between gun rights and gun control factions. |

The Oregon state Senate will soon vote on a bill that could limit whether concealed handguns are allowed in public buildings. Senate Bill 554 would let local jurisdictions decide whether to allow guns in airports, schools, and other public spaces — legally concealed or not.
SB 554 was introduced by several leading Democratic Senators, including Senator Ginny Burdick and Senate Majority Leader Rob Wagner. Thursday morning, the Senate Committee on Judiciary approved the bill for a vote on the Senate floor. |

The concept of sight alignment and sight picture are both relatively easy for shooters to understand. Learning the skills involved with aligning the sights and placing them on target is much easier than is learning the skills involved with proper grip and trigger press. With that said, the discussion of sight alignment and sight picture usually gets only brief treatment in anything other than absolute beginner level training. While the concept is simpler than learning the other fundamentals, it is still of vital importance and many shooters never learn the more practical application of this fundamental as it applies to shooting in a self-defense manner. |

As you know, 2020 was a record-breaking year in terms of firearm sales primarily due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic. Many people (over 8 million!) who bought firearms in 2020 are first-time buyers. Understanding the importance of educating these new firearm owners on everything gun-related (safety, handling, maintenance, legal aspects, etc.), Nosler started an initiative called Project 48. The company plans to invite the industry’s most renowned experts, professional athletes and 2A activists to join the Project 48 and create content that will help new firearm owners. Nosler has recently announced that the first partners of Project 48 are Colion Noir and Tim Kennedy. |

President Joe Biden is reportedly considering “every tool” at his disposal to crack down on Second Amendment rights as left-wing activists are pushing him to deal with the issue of gun violence by declaring a national emergency and using executive orders.
“Among the executive actions under consideration by the administration is one that would require buyers of so-called ghost guns — homemade or makeshift firearms that lack serial numbers — to undergo background checks,” Politico reported. A White House official told Politico that Biden was considering “every tool at our disposal, including executive actions” to crack down on the Second Amendment. |

Second Amendment Oasis? Second Amendment Preserve? Second Amendment Refuge? These are all synonyms for the word sanctuary, which I’m told is an issue for some Twin Falls City Council members. Tell that to the hundreds who packed City Hall Commons Thursday night. I had an opportunity to address the crowd.
I reminded them and anyone else listening that gun owners vote. At a much, much higher percentage than other demographics. |

Gage County’s stance on the right to bear arms led to some heated discussion Wednesday during the board’s regular meeting.
Board Chairman Erich Tiemann, a Republican is proposing a resolution for the county in support of gun rights, declaring Gage County a “Second Amendment sanctuary county.”
The resolution wouldn’t change gun rights as they currently stand, but would follow others like Cherry County in taking a stance on the hot topic. |

Wyoming legislators are looking to strengthen the state’s Second Amendment laws in the wake of President Joe Biden’s policies on gun control.
Elected on a strong gun control platform, Biden supports a national prohibition on high-capacity magazines, restrictions on firearm sales and laws that would make firearms manufacturers civilly liable for guns used in certain crimes.
So far, several pro-gun rights bills are in the works in Wyoming, including bills to repeal gun-free zones and eliminate residency requirements for concealed carry permits. |
