"Funny, how college women are competent enough to drive 'deadly' vehicles, to vote, to live on their own, to join the military, to get jobs, to form contracts, to get married, to 'choose,' and to assume all kinds of adult responsibilities. Funny how 'progressive feminists' (and talk about Opposite Day on steroids – or would that be estradiol?) rail against 'inequality' and the like, yet when it comes to choosing the right to keep and bear arms, their default position is along the lines of “'There, there, dearies, don’t you worry your pretty little heads about it.'” |

Over past four years the number of Michigan women who have renewed or received their concealed pistol license (CPL) has gone up by 134 percent.
If you've gone to a gun store recently, you might notice the new trend.
"I've seen a lot more women getting into this," said Sam Dalily, of Action impact Firearm and Training Center in Southfield.
It turns out more women are choosing to buy a weapon. While women still make up less than a quarter of the state's new CPL holders, they're getting more licenses than men.
"So some women just want something to put in their pocket, and some go for the bigger gun, same caliber but bigger and thicker...
Many gun stores offer ladies-only classes, which are often full.

Local gun boards would be abolished under legislation that passed the state House of Representatives Wednesday and is headed to Gov. Rick Snyder for his signature.
Backers of the proposal believe the change brings some much needed consistency in how concealed weapons permits are issued across the state. But opponents worry that local gun boards have a better familiarity with the residents of their communities and problems that might occur if a permit is issued.
"The Second Amendment, the right of people to keep and bear arms," said state Rep. Klint Kesto, R-Commerce Township. "The key word here is that right shall not be infringed. Every person has the right to bear arms." |

Jessica Poxson sums up the reason she got a concealed pistol license in one word: safety.
"Something happened to me that was potentially dangerous and it made me think about my safety and the safety of my children," said the 32-year-old from Wolverine Lake. "I wanted it to be able to protect myself and my family."
Poxson, who said she got her concealed pistol license a few months ago, is one of a growing number of women in Metro Detroit and statewide who are packing heat, according to Michigan State Police data.
"(Owning a gun) doesn't seem weird to women like it used to," he said. "And there's been a change in the culture of gun shops." |

A bill that would allow gun owners to carry a concealed weapon without a permit or mandatory training—almost universally known as “constitutional carry”—is gaining steam in Kansas. The bill passed the Kansas Senate, and is moving on to the House.
...
It won’t come as a shock that the media and the anti-gun Left is almost universally against the concept of constitutional carry, but so are a significant number of gun owners, including concealed carry instructors in Kansas. |

The Obama administration couldn’t outright ban the AR-15, so he’s trying to circumvent popular opinion and slowly drain the weapons muster by making the ammunition scarce.
According to the Washington Examiner, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have decided to propose a ban on the weapons 5.56mm ammunition. |

The NRA has come out against a new ATF proposal that would prohibit the sale of so-called “armor piercing ammo” to law-abiding civilians in these United States, including popular 5.56 “green tipped” rounds. Their opposition makes sense to me, I suppose, because I oppose this ban as well, though maybe not for exactly the same reasons.
Look, I’m a police officer, but, first and foremost, I’m a proud American who loves personal freedom and liberty. I’m also a lifetime member of the NRA and, as both a cop and a gun enthusiast, I have to state for the record that I would never want to work for the ATF. This is also why weighing in on the ATFs proposition to ban green tip rounds is so important to me. |

As a state trooper, deputy, investigator and chief lawman, Mercer County Sheriff D.B. “Don” Meadows has carried a firearm on his hip most of this life. He’s not opposed to firearms in any form or fashion, but he has a problem with the West Virginia Senate’s bill — S.B. 347 — a bill that is designed to dismantle the state’s present concealed carry permitting process.
State Senator Dave Sypolt, R-Kingwood, is patron of the bill that seeks to create the “Firearms Act of 2015.” The bill is due for third reading with right to amend today. |

A district judge on Wednesday found that the limitations under California’s Unsafe Handgun Act, which prohibits many pistols commonly sold in the rest of the country, do not violate the Second Amendment.
The roster of handguns that meets the states expansive safety requirements first implemented in 1997 excludes many popular models and is getting gradually smaller due to increasing restrictions to include controversial microstamping requirements. |

Patrick Neville was a 15-year-old sophomore at Columbine High School in 1999. He was on his way to a fast food lunch when the shooting started.
Two students, armed with guns and pipe bombs, had stormed the Colorado school, on their way to killing one teacher and 12 students — some were Neville's friends.
Neville, now a Colorado State Representative, says that many of Columbine's teachers and faculty acted heroically that day. |

Second Amendment advocates are all up in arms over Barack Obama ban on M885 .223 ammo. Many get very technical about how a M885 bullet differs from other ammo but we think they are missing the point. It's not the composition or nature of the ammo, but the fact that Barack Obama has seized the power to restrict the manufacture or sale of any kind of ordinary ammunition. He does not have that authority under the Second Amendment, but he's doing it anyway. |

Kansas politicians are one step closer to pushing a pro-gun agenda
The Kansas Senate approved on Wednesday a new bill that would allow people to carry concealed weapons without a permit and without having to take safety training classes.
Local gun advocate and She’s A Pistol owner Becky Bieker said one month after the deadly shootout at her shop, she wants to push harder for more gun owner rights. But she has mixed emotions about the new legislation to eliminate concealed carry permits in her state. |
