"A Metro student brought a gun to school, but a cash reward prompted a fellow student to turn him in. Cold, hard cash: it's working to help keep weapons off school grounds."

Officer Black is proud of the students who help him fight crime. He said it's better to take a stand than be sorry later. "We don't know if the kid was going to use it or not, but it's not on the streets. It's one less gun we have to worry about."

"Gun advocates, like other politically passionate groups, sometimes don't know when to quit. Such is the case in Utah. Less than two weeks before the Olympic Games begin, gun advocates are trying to bring guns close to Olympic venues and trying to force guns onto college campuses against the will of colleges and universities." - The Seattle Times Company

Beretta's integrated lock blocks the movement of the hammer using a keyed system. The B-Lok also features a safety warning system, which will allow the gun owner to verify, by both sight and feel, whether the safety is engaged or disengaged. The body of the B-Lok safety is made from hardened steel and the head of the mechanical lock consists of a rotating pick-resistant plunger.

Before the murders at Ruby Ridge, before the slaughter of the Branch Davidians. Before the federal government's attacks on Bob Stewart, John Lawmaster, Janice Hart, Louis Katona, Harry & Theresa Lamplugh or the murder of Donald Scott...there was the Pine Ridge Reservation and Leonard Peltier. February 6th will mark the beginning of his 27th year in federal prison...held in captivity by one group of tyrants longer than that other group of tyrants held Nelson Mandella.

The charade of education reform

How do we know that the new reform bill is a sham? Because the federal
government will be giving money to the same people who have caused the
problem.

Bush declared, "If schools don't perform, if, however, given the new
resources, focused resources, they are unable to solve the problem of not
educating their children, there must be real consequences."

What this latest "reform" actually does is accelerate the takeover of public education by the federal government.

"Haven't Toronto's hoodlums learned of the 1995 federal Liberal firearm legislation? Enacted in 1998, it requires all who possess firearms to become licensed. This should lead metro's finest to the location of all the hoods' guns. And under the Firearms Act, these folk will have few protections against search and seizure..."

Gun control advocates gave their wish list to lawmakers, then admitted they might as well not bother. "It's pathetic," said Sen. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Weston). Democratic lawmakers and gun control groups said the "NRA's grip" on the Republican-controlled Legislature prevents open discussion of gun control.

Marion Hammer, Florida president of the NRA, scoffed at that. "It's not NRA pressure, it's common sense that keeps these bills from being heard," she said.

From "gun-free" Japan:

"The top cause of suicide... was 'job-related problems,' including unemployment, accounting for 28.1% of all suicides. Following were 'financial or daily living trouble,' at 28.1%, and 'health-related problems' at 14.6%.

"A 20-year-old university student who lost his father said... 'I want the government to examine ways to form another path for them.'"

-- What? You mean their "gun control" edicts haven't worked?

KABA NOTE: What? You mean these people need their government to figure out how people should live their lives? That is pretty pathetic.

Fingerhut criticized Lott for disguising his advocacy as scholarly work and disputed many of the figures Lott cited as inaccurate. He said it was illogical and misleading to use crime statistics to support his arguments, because it's impossible to factor in all the reasons some places have more crime than others.

"It is ludicrous to suggest that increasing the number of people carrying loaded weapons around the house is actually going to reduce crime," he said.

"To a certain respect, [students] have to be responsible for their own security," Miles said. "They cannot prop doors open, they cannot leave suite doors unlocked."

KABA NOTE: So they hold students "accountable" for their own "safety", while denying them the means to defend themselves. How very quaint.
