... "Wayne, bubelah, the thing to do with unconstitutional gun laws is not to 'enforce' them, it's to get rid of them. Although, realistically, that’s not going to happen with background checks any time soon. So right now we need to work on letting people know why the private sale 'loophole' is justified in order to retain the last tiny bit of freedom which it affords us. My suggestion is multi-pronged, because there are multiple problems with the current system." ... |

... "In the wake of a self-defense shooting involving a modern semi-automatic rifle or pistol, you will undoubtedly have to answer the same question if you are charged with a crime along with that shooting. You should know how to answer the question, 'Why did you need to use an assault weapon, Mr. Defendant?' So, let’s take a look at why American citizens need modern semi-automatic weapons."
"One of the overarching themes of the anti-gun movement is that Americans simply do not need these types of weapons. 'Why does anyone need a high capacity assault rifle?' After all, high capacity semi-automatic rifles are not used for hunting or sporting purposes, just for killing humans. To which I respond 'exactly.'" ... |

"When I was a college kid I took a judo class to satisfy my gym requirement. Today, I’m too many years removed from college and I can’t perform any the moves or remember most of the terminology. But one concept from judo has stuck with me: sometimes you can’t just out-muscle your opponent. Sometimes you’re going to get thrown and that’s when you need to use your opponent’s strength and energy against him. The pro-2A crowd needs to learn that lesson right now, because it may be that the current situation presents an opportunity for us to actually make some gains, particularly at the state level, instead of just minimizing the (sadly almost inevitable) losses . . ." ... |

This happened, according to Horwitz, when United States Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) told NRA executive director Wayne LaPierre that many Illinois gun owners have told him that the Second Amendment was never intended to protect hunting or other sports, and nor is it even primarily about self-defense from common criminals--that it is, at its heart, a protection of the people's means to resist a tyrannical government." ... |

Editor's Note: I'm sorry did he say ensure the licenses are going to the right people or ensure the licenses are going to the white people? |

"Last week, we broke the news on the fact that Dayton anti-gun protester Jerome McCorry ... who had staged a small protest outside Bill Goodman's Gun & Knife Show and received generous media attention, is also a convicted rapist. ..." ...
"Since WHIO says they based their decision to help establish convicted rapist Jerome McCorry's credibility in interviews on their belief that he 'has the endorsement of respected law enforcement leaders,' did they bother to check to see if the information posted on The Adam Project page was truthful, or up to date? Isn't that the type of thing news organizations ... should be doing before they make a special effort to drive out and cover an anti-gun protest being staged by a registered sex offender?" ... |

"Gun-related crimes on the rise in Massachusetts, proclaims the headline at the Boston Globe, factually enough. And then the strap-line: Firearms flowing across borders. In other words, firearms-related crime is on the rise in Massachusetts because 'The quality of your gun-licensing laws is only as good as those surrounding you.' Ayup. Northeastern University criminologist James Alan Fox pins the blame for the Bay State’s gun-related crime on adjacent states’ firearms freedom. I mean lax gun laws. Interesting that the article starts with the blame shifters and then reveals the rate of rising gun crime. Just for S&Gs, let’s do it their way . . ." ... |
