Democrat politicians said they wanted to disarm us. The Democrats didn’t wait long. Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee filed two gun control bills. This is exactly what we expected from Democrat politicians.

The mainstream media will echo Lee’s lies. It is up to us to spread the truth.

House Bill 102 will strengthen Montana’s self-defense laws by allowing law-abiding Montana gun owners to carry a firearm for self-defense throughout the state without first having to obtain a government mandated permit to do so. Further, this bill will remove some of Montana’s “gun-free zones” from the list of prohibited places and stop the unnecessary disarming of Montanans as they go about their day-to-day lives.

Today, the Utah Senate passed HB 60, clearing the last major hurdle. The bill will now be transmitted back to the House for a concurrence vote before heading to Governor Cox's desk.

House Bill 60, sponsored by Representative Walt Brooks (R-75), allows a law-abiding adult to carry a concealed firearm in the State of Utah, without first needing to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP) system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so.

Shanique Shaw got a license to carry a firearm two years ago, but held off on buying a gun.

She wanted it for protection, but feared the consequences of ever having to use it.

“It was more of, I am afraid of going to prison or of making the wrong move,” said Shaw, a single mother in Cobb County.

House Bill 1369 allows any law-abiding adult who is legally eligible to obtain a carry permit, to carry a handgun without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have their right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. It does not affect previously issued carry permits, and allows citizens who still wish to obtain a permit in order to carry in other states recognizing Indiana permits, to do so.

Three bills expanding the use of deadly force in the state turned out opponents in hearings lasting all day before the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee Friday.

People of color testifying said they would be the victims of the bills and argued the bills were not about self-defense but racism, while others said the changes would encourage “bad characters” to be more reckless with their guns.

A gun control bill that Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D–Texas) recently introduced gives you an idea of what Democrats might do if they did not have to worry about the Second Amendment. The Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act would establish a national database that is supposed to include every gun in the country, make it a felony to own a firearm or ammunition without a license from the Justice Department, ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and "ammunition that is 0.50 caliber or greater," and criminalize possession of a "military-style weapon" without a special license. Violating the bill's provisions would be punishable by hefty fines and long minimum prison sentences, which Lee ordinarily claims to oppose.

At the time, I thought it strange someone would prefer a .223 semi-automatic rifle to a 30-30 or larger caliber rifle.

50 years and considerable time investigating actual defensive shootings of bears later, my opinion has become less certain.

Of the defensive bear shootings I have found, four of them were with rifles reasonably characterized as semi-automatic civilian versions of popular military rifles.

All four defensive shootings were successful.

State Reps. Mike Loychik, R-Bazetta, and Diane Grendell, R-Chesterland, on Thursday introduced House Bill 62, known as the Ohio Second Amendment Safe Haven Act, which would designate Ohio as a Second Amendment protective state.

“I’m happy to represent my constituency and Ohioans across our great state that unequivocally deserve to have their constitutional rights protected,” Loychik said in a news release. “Ohioans have the freedom of the Second Amendment here in our state, and we must prioritize the protection of their right to keep and bear arms.”

The legendary Bowie knife is soon to become the official state knife of Texas according to a recently introduced resolution which is a companion resolution that would have made the Bowie knife the State knife of Texas if it hadn’t been vetoed by Governor Greg Abbott. However, the governor doesn’t actually oppose the resolution but in fact, supports it. The resolution originally passed with bipartisan support back in 2019 but was vetoed due to an obvious historical error.

At the Jan. 27 meeting of the Kamiah City Council, member Stephen Rowe proposed a Second Amendment sanctuary city resolution for the city of Kamiah.

Rowe said that he is concerned that the new presidential administration will restrict guns and he wants to protect people’s gun rights in Kamiah. The examples he used were potential limits on magazine size and putting red flag laws in place. In the case of red flag laws, Rowe said they allow for “taking guns away from people who have not committed a crime.”

If there is one lesson that we should take from some recent events, it is that removing anti-Second Amendment extremism from the levers of power at the federal, state, and local level is going to require a lot of work. Part of that work will involve building bridges, often to those who are most affected by the failures we have seen anti-Second Amendment extremists use their calls to attack our rights to distract their ill-served constituents.
