The soft point cutting edge bullet (SPCE) is essentially a modified semi-jacketed bullet that’s been designed to expand in a very controlled fashion. Unlike a standard soft-point or hollow point where the core is often bonded with the casing, this bullet doesn’t lock the lead core in completely. Some call it “water bottle” ammo, because the point of the bullet is vaguely designed similar to a pet hamster’s water bottle. The core isn’t bonded to the casing, allowing a different style of expansion and penetration. |

While I’m not typically a fan of one-size-fits-all holsters since they traditionally don’t do anything really well, the Versacarry Rough Rider may have changed my mind, at least about this one. Versacarry has created a universal holster that seems to work well for a variety of guns. With “versa” as in “versatile” being part of the name, this makes total sense. |

Believe it or not, gun control is just as much a class issue as it is an issue of the abridgement of freedoms for misguided reasons. Naturally, those who advocate for increasingly tighter restrictions on firearms ownership insist that it’s in the name of savings lives when anyone who actually knows anything can tell right away they just want fewer people buying guns, period. |

Democrats on Capitol Hill last week introduced a measure that would end direct legal gun sales to out of state residents. H.R. 647 would prohibit a Federal Firearms Licensee from transferring a shotgun or a rifle to a person who they feel does not reside in the same state. Handguns already are subject to a "state resident only" sales restriction, which is a holdover from the days prior to federal instant background checks. The proposal to move long arm sales under the same 1960s guideline comes from a Colorado Congressman who argues it is needed. |

Florida State Sen. Shevrin Jones (D) is pushing legislation to repeal the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law. “Stand Your Ground” laws allow innocent citizens under attack to use force, including lethal force, to save their lives. By design, a “Stand Your Ground” law creates a framework whereby a citizen cannot be held liable for using such force in an instance where fear of losing his own life is demonstrable. |

As previously reported, Senate Bill 5078 and Senate Bill 5038 were heard in the Senate Law and Public Justice Committee in January. During that hearing, these anti-gun measures were substituted, passed, and have been sent to the Senate Rules Committee. Senate Bill 5078, bans the manufacture, possession, sale, transfer, etc., of magazines that “are capable of holding” or hold more than 17 rounds of ammunition. (The substituted bill increased the restricted count from 10 to 17). This includes conversion kits or parts from which any such magazine may be assembled. |

At the Jan. 27 meeting of the Kamiah City Council, member Stephen Rowe proposed a Second Amendment sanctuary city resolution for the city of Kamiah. Rowe said that he is concerned that the new presidential administration will restrict guns and he wants to protect people’s gun rights in Kamiah. The examples he used were potential limits on magazine size and putting red flag laws in place. In the case of red flag laws, Rowe said they allow for “taking guns away from people who have not committed a crime.”

The term "gun safety" to most firearm owners usually translates to gun control and curtailing the Second Amendment. To the firearm industry, gun safety means actual gun safety that works within the confines of Americans' Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms. It means education that teaches first time gun owners how to properly handle and store firearms. And it includes resources for parents to talk to their children about what to do if he or she comes across a firearm.
