40 years ago, Heston favoured forms of gun control & campaigned on issues with long-standing Hollywood liberals as Paul Newman. So what happened?
In 1964 he was being driven to the set of the War Lord when he noticed a billboard supporting Barry Goldwater, that year's right-wing Republican candidate against Lyndon Johnson, who later won.
The words beside the picture of Goldwater read: "In your heart you know he's right." Said Heston: "That was my St Paul on the road to Damascus." |

Today's shooting by Robert Pickett with a handgun at the White House is the latest incident starkly illustrating the need for a ban on the most deadly categories of firearms: small, easily concealable handguns and high-powered assault weapons, the Violence Policy Center stated today. The VPC is a national organization working to reduce gun death and injury in America and is the only gun control organization that actively works for a national handgun ban. |

HB713 would require that all transfers of firearms be registered with the Illinois State Police. The registration process would transmit sensitive personal data along with specific information regarding the make, model, and serial number of the firearm transferred. HB713 requires further that all information obtained by the Illinois State Police be entered into a master database, which, according to the language of the bill, must be "made available to any law enforcement officer." |

A Maine state senator shows her statist beliefs by calling for an end to unlicensed gun sales. The usual suspects: a political Chief of Police and "citizen groups" support the bill submitted by Douglass, but they face stiff opposition by a well informed populace. The majority of Mainers are gun owners, and they are an independent lot who do not take kindly to this sort of nannyism. Let's hope that senator Douglass sees her next election suffer the ignominious defeat that this bill is fated for. |

"As you read this story of how California is attempting to close a shooting range in this mountain suburb, you will see striking similarities to other places out west, and how the government uses environmental extremism to get their way in any situation, especially in the Golden State."

"Gun control in itself indicates one thing to me... It is the only method to further perpetuate their goals of making us helpless to fight their maniacal goals. It is for this reason I believe they have such extreme goals that go against our values that they surely know if we are to remain armed we will surely turn on them one day to correct their evils. This is why they must disarm us or they will never succeed." |

"No jail time for a former UPS worker who diverted gun shipments to himself. Airport native Todd Tongue was sentenced Wednesday to 6 months of home confinement plus 5 years probation on charges he stole gun shipments while working at the shipping company. Federal prosecutors say tongue intercepted gun and ammunition shipments from a wholesale gun dealer in 1998. He could have faced 10 years behind bars."
Ya think perhaps he did it FOR them so they could crack-down on gun shipments? |

"When criminals broke into Humberto Fontova's home, and he grabbed his shotgun."
But he put it down because they had a gun to the head of his sister-in-law.
I do not want to play Monday morning quarterback about someone who goes through this kind of ordeal. Yet, I question the wisdom of giving in, even though nobody was hurt. They were lucky, no doubt about it. |
