"Arthur C. Clarke's short story 'Superiority' made it clear decades ago that overreliance on technology can kill people. 'We were defeated by one thing only – by the inferior science of our enemies. I repeat – by the inferior science of our enemies.' The story's lesson is that, when national security or human safety depends on a product, that product has to work 100 percent of the time. This applies particularly to defensive firearms, cell phones, gun safes, and automobiles."

"As a resident of Washington State, I can’t [yet] have an SBR. In fact, the only NFA items we’re allowed to own here are silencers. I’ve really always loved the look and compact size of a nice SBR, and have definitely always loved the look of an integrally suppressed barrel. You know, along the lines of an MP5SD or the like. When Sig released its SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace, an idea popped into my mind (shocking, I know). I could make myself a pistol that had the look and feel of an integrally suppressed SBR, but wasn’t actually either of those things . . ." ... |

"Night vision is expensive and annoying. Even after shelling out thousands of dollars for the latest and greatest in intensifier tubes, you still need to figure out how you’re going to get your existing optics to work with the new device. And then re-zero it. And then practice some more. It’s generally a pain in the butt. But for those who want an inexpensive solution to add some nocturnal capability to their rifle, NiteSite has a new product that fits the bill . . ." ... |

"South by Southwest (SXSW) is the annual music, film, and miscellaneous lecture festival that clogs the streets of Austin every March with tens of thousands of out-of-towners who don’t know how to use frontage roads. This year it also drew the heads of some of the foremost anti-gun organizations in America. Mark Glaze, the Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, lead a panel discussion on Saturday that featured Shannon Watts, the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America founder, Peter Ambler, founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions and Stephen Geer, also of [MAIG] . . ."

"The Alaska Legislature has considered some preposterous notions in its 101 years, but Sen. John Coghill’s proposal to allow guns on University of Alaska campuses, which reportedly came from a student intern in his office, is probably the most ill-informed idea to ever come out of Juneau. The obvious intent of the bill is to protect the Second Amendment rights of students, staff and faculty, but the unintended consequence of this shortsighted scheme is the curtailment of our First Amendment rights." ... |

"What Happened: Idaho lawmakers voted to allow concealed guns on the campuses of all state public colleges, over the objections of eight public university presidents, the Board of Education, and other anti-gun groups. The NRA-drafted bill now goes to Republican Gov. ... Otter for his signature – and as a Second Amendment backer, he’s likely to approve it."
"The law would allow armed students or teachers to defend themselves during a shooting or other violent act, say supporters. Idaho would become the seventh state – after Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Missouri, Kansas, and Wisconsin – to permit carrying concealed weapons on public college and university campuses." ... |

"How can this situation de-escalate peacefully? There are lawsuits in place against the Connecticut gun law. Let the judicial process work to protect the rights of minorities. Enjoin the law as the case slowly grinds its way through the courts."
"The political solution is to lobby the legislators in person, and some online media have posted lists of legislators who supported gun confiscation. Some politicians view that publicity with alarm. They are wrong. ..."

Editor's Note: Unfortunately no court case is going to change the fact that these liberty loathing legislators thought it was perfectly acceptable to ban an entire class of firearms. That bell can't be un-rung. |

"The latest gun control law in Connecticut has crossed a very frightening line. A standoff has been created between the government and tens of thousands of gun owners now considered felons. It marks the beginning of an Orwellian new phase. Gun owners saw it coming, as evidenced by their recent adoption in recent years of the defiant expression 'molon labe.' The phrase originated from Spartan General-King Leonidas, who reportedly responded with 'Come and get them!' to Persian Emperor Xerxes' demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae. ... With the prequel to the Hollywood bestselling movie 300 just released last week, Americans are now even more aware of the phrase." ... |

"On April 4, 2013, Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy (D) signed Senate Bill 1160 into law, unleashing one of the most draconian gun control laws in the nation on his constituents. Among other things, the 140-page law bans large classes of firearms and magazines that had been obtained lawfully by tens of thousands of Connecticut residents. Limited grandfather provisions apply to those who registered otherwise banned items before January 1, 2014. Others in possession could face felony penalties for violations.
