... "Don't get me wrong: A properly-crafted lawsuit to stop his ammo grab can be a fine idea and worthy of being supported as one of the preferred peaceable redress angles to use. But I guess hyperbole and scare tactics are needed to motivate low-information gun owners to cough up funds to support it -- and make no mistake -- the intent of the 800 number at the end of the ad is to solicit donations." ... |

... "In a press release, SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb alluded to last week’s letters from SAF and its sister organization, the [CCRKBA], to B. Todd Jones, director of the [ATF]. Those letters oppose the plan to ban M855 'green tipped' ammunition for .223-caliber semi-auto rifles."
"SAF General Counsel Miko Tempski warned Jones in a three-page dissection of the proposed ban that if the agency goes ahead with its plan, SAF will take court action. Today’s media campaign launch, according to the Washington Times and the SAF press release, is aimed at getting public support for legal action."

"The old joke about government covering up wrongdoing is, 'Move along folks, nothing to see here.' But that’s exactly what the [ATF] told Americans last week after being caught changing the rules to ban AR-15 M855 'green tip' ammunition without a proper public commenting period or congressional approval. This is no laughing matter."
"Under the guise of law enforcement safety, the ATF introduced a 'proposal' in February banning commonly used AR-15 green-tip ammunition, citing 'armor piercing' capabilities as justification. The problem? The ATF had already changed the rules in its 2014 Regulation Guidebook, stripping the exemption." ... |

"Prior to joining the NRA, I had heard an unbelievable amount of slander towards the organization, both online and in public. There were cries of racism, propaganda, corruption, avarice and ignorance. As such, I was hesitant about joining. But following the latest bombardment from anti-gunners last fall I caved and joined. To my delight, I found out most of what had been spewed as far as the NRA is concerned was lies. As such, I was inspired to call out some of the most common myths regarding this venerable pro-gun organization in the hope of helping educate your average Joe . . ." ... |

"I don’t have a lot of respect for Eric Holder, regardless of his skin color. I say that because the U.S. Attorney General has a history of playing the race card against his critics. Given Holder’s propensity for accusing his detractors of racial bias, I’m wary that any discussion of his policies regarding guns would somehow come back the fact that I am white. How could I possibly understand his perspective on American justice, indeed, any black man’s perspective of American justice? Well guess what? I’m going to play the Jewish card. Sort of . . ." ... |

"I love a machine shop, I love guns, and I love me some Texas. So it was a lot of fun for me to visit STI, the manufacturer of exceptional 1911 and 2011 pistols in Georgetown, Texas. I’ve reviewed STI’s guns quite a bit here, although not formally. My recent post on everyday carry reliability was written after firing 2,000 rounds without lube and without cleaning through my daily carry pistol, an STI Duty One 4.0. It didn’t hiccup a bit, and still shot better groups than I could. STI prides themselves on making guns that run right, right out of the box. The gun is an absolute pleasure to shoot, but alas there aren’t many semi-auto versions available for those of us without tons of cash to spend on buying and licensing a full-auto gun. Thankfully, with the advent of 3D printing, we no longer need to re-engineer and mill our own lower receiver for the gun — we just need to download the appropriate files and print one out ourselves! That’s just what someone has done to the old vz. 61, and the option is now available for anyone who wants it. Make the jump for the test fire . . ." ... |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
