Why More Gun Control Laws Will Not Produce More Positive Results

The reason is simple: The most that regulation of the legal market in guns can do is push criminals into the illegal market and we are already at this point. When a criminal, or an otherwise law abiding citizen, is unable to obtain a gun through legal channels, they face a choice: Decide not to buy a gun, or find a black market dealer or other illegal source. That’s why regulation of the legal gun market reaches a point where more laws will produce no more effect.

A Louisiana state representative says a national ammo shortage is causing the prices of ammo to skyrocket in Acadiana and across the state.

The prices of ammunition are doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling.

It doesn’t matter if you’re buying a gun for recreation, sport, or self-defense. The ammo prices are going to affect all gun owners.

On Thursday, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY-18) voted to pass two landmark bipartisan gun violence prevention bills that he says will close dangerous loopholes in our nation’s background check system.

“These are smart, commonsense bills that will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people and help make communities here in the Hudson Valley – and across America – safer places to live,” Maloney stated. “With over 90 percent of the American public supporting universal background checks, these bills are a no-brainer. They are long overdue fixes to a broken system and will help save innocent lives.”

A bill that would allow concealed carry permit holders to have guns on public transportation passed the Missouri House this week.

Missouri Rep. Adam Schnelting, R-St. Charles, sponsored House Bill 52. He said it has bipartisan support.

“At some point, we all have the potential of running into a situation where we have to employ self-defense,” Schnelting said. “Right now, criminals are already carrying firearms onto our public transit system. This just levels the playing field.”

You’d be hard-pressed to find a gun shooters like to dress up more than the 1911. From hammer spurs to beavertails, grip panels to trigger profiles, there’s not another handgun in the world that has been as thoroughly tricked-out as John Browning’s 1911.

Customizing 1911s has become big business, and there’s no bigger name in the 1911 game than Bill Wilson. Bill’s custom pistols are striking examples of mechanical artwork, and Wilson Combat guns look as good as they shoot.

“I’ve been pushing for years to change this outdated rule, knowing there was an inevitable risk in allowing members to carry guns in the Capitol,” Rep. Jared Huffman, D-California, the primary sponsor of the ban, said in a statement. “While we’d like to think we could rely on common decency, we now have colleagues who are QAnon and white supremacist sympathizers, incite violence and insurrection, and have even bragged about bringing guns into the House chamber.”

The House Thursday passed a bill by Rep. Chad Christensen, R-Iona, to allow school employees to carry a gun on school grounds, without local trustees’ permission.

Currently, Idaho school boards decide whether to allow employees to carry guns on campus. Several already do so. Christensen’s bill would bypass trustees’ permission and allow any school staff member with a concealed weapons carry permit to carry a weapon on school property.

Statement on Gun Control Bills H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446

"These bills are a transparent attempt by gun control advocates in Congress to restrict the rights of law-abiding Americans under the guise of addressing the violent criminal culture in America. The truth, however, is that neither of these bills will do anything to solve that problem. By giving full power to unelected government bureaucrats to indefinitely delay and prevent lawful firearm transfers, H.R. 1446 could ultimately destroy the Second Amendment rights guaranteed to every law-abiding American by turning it into a privilege enjoyed by a select few.

A Stand Your Ground bill shot down by the Senate Judiciary committee has been resurrected and approved by the full Senate. Supporters of House Bill 1212 say the bill clears up vague and outdated language in current self-defense statutes. But lawyers in the legislature say the bill replaces current self-defense law and wipes out decades of case law that interprets what self defense is and is not.

Victoria Wicks tracks this bill as it travels through committees and chambers on its way to the governor's desk.

NRA Urges Supreme Court to Take Concealed Carry Case

Yesterday the NRA-ILA and the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association filed a reply brief asking the Supreme Court to hear a case challenging New York’s restrictive concealed-carry-licensing regime.

This case challenges New York’s requirement for applicants to demonstrate “proper cause” to carry a firearm. New York regularly uses this requirement to deny applicants. New York’s practice is unconstitutional because the Second Amendment “guarantees rights to ‘keep and bear arms’ to all ‘the people,’” the brief argues, not just to the select few that the state deems worthy.

A recent carjacking attempt in Jacksonville, Florida, shows us that the quick acceleration electric vehicles give isn’t just a fun feature. It might also save your life.

...

Younce told media outlets (including Action News Jax, which made the video above) that he waited for the right moment to escape and the car’s unique features gave him a chance to do it. The robber tried to pull the car’s flush doorhandle, and the brief moment of confusion at that distracted him for just a moment. That’s when Younce nailed the skinny pedal. The vehicle’s “hold” feature meant he didn’t even have to put it in “D.” He could just go.

A man already jailed on allegations he pointed a loaded pistol at a Metro officer earlier this year has been charged in connection with two attempted robberies in Hermitage last year, including one where he was shot.

Callen Williams, 20, was charged Wednesday with two counts of attempted aggravated robbery.

An arrest warrant states Williams pulled a gun on a man who was performing maintenance on a car at Cherry Creek Apartments on Crystal Spring Lane the night of Nov. 16, 2020. When Williams pointed the gun at the man’s chest, the police report alleges the victim grabbed for the gun and was shot in the thigh, leading Williams to flee.

The Night Guard is a quick-access safe specifically meant to store a handgun. It is an unassuming rectangular steel box, larger than a hardcover book but smaller than a briefcase, with a black powder coat. While it would fit in a vehicle or a closet, the Night Guard is specifically meant for use atop a night stand/bedside table or even a kitchen counter. As my contact at Hornady told me, “The goal was to offer a low-profile safe that fits on a nightstand and doesn’t immediately look like a safe.”

Let's be honest: the first thing that we're looking for in a solid handgun is function and capability.

If we're being true to our nature, then a sharp looking pistol is going to catch our eye and very possibly some of our hard-earned money.

If those things can combine, you've got yourself a good gun.

You are startled awake. You heard breaking glass, and now you hear other noises as well. You try to turn on your lights but the lights don’t work. You grab your gun and move down the hallway. You see strangers coming into your house through your garage door. The strangers shout for you to put your hands up. You step back into the hallway and then shoot the nearest armed robber. Now, all the robbers turn and run away. When you call the police to report the crime, it is three in the morning.

Police arrest your attackers nearby. Including the driver, there were six of them. They turned off the power to your house. The robber you shot dropped an airsoft pistol in your garage as he ran.

South Carolina’s House of Representatives is locked and loaded to debate a bill that would allow permit-holding gun owners to openly carry a firearm.

“This is a bill that protects our Second Amendment rights, expands them and prevents overreach from the federal government and opens the ability to protect yourself,” said Rep. Bobby Cox, R - Greenville.

But not all gun owners feel open carry is a good idea.
