Armed with two handguns and dozens of rounds of ammunition, 43-year-old Anthony McRae open fired on the Michigan State University campus on the night of Feb. 13, killing three students and wounding five more.
The mass shooting has pushed Michigan Democrats, who had already planned to prioritize changes to gun laws, into action.
Democrats are expected to bring a sweeping 11-bill gun safety package before the Michigan Legislature this week, emboldened by their sweeping victories in statewide elections in November that gave them legislative control. Responding to two mass school shootings in 15 months, the party’s leaders say it is only the beginning of gun reform in the state. |

Just more than a week ago the Michigan Senate was discussing new gun bills like red flag laws and increased background checks. On Saturday, a group rallied at the Capitol calling these proposed bills “too extreme.” |

While the shooting-sports market continues to grow with new carbine offerings each year, most of the time they are variations on existing platforms. It's rare to see a company invest in building something that's truly a different design from other guns in its class. I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Trailblazer Arms Pivot pistol-caliber carbine ever since the CEO gave me a sneak peek of the 3D printed prototype a few years ago, because there’s nothing else quite like it. I thought the idea looked good but the finished product is even better. Here are five reasons why the Pivot 9 mm carbine deserves a closer look. |

When I saw the Ruger .22/45 Mark III Target Model in a local gun store, I immediately recognized the similarity to a Colt Gold Cup .45 ACP pistol. Ruger matched the grip style to Colt’s 1911-series guns for shooters like me who need lots of practice time. The price of centerfire pistol ammo is high, but .22 rimfire ammo costs much less. What a great idea for a practice gun! |
