It’s the little gun with big appeal. The .380 semi-automatic handgun has become all the rage in firearms, as more states relax conceal-carry restrictions and men and women alike turn to a palm-sized gun that easily fits into a handbag, pocket or ankle holster. Production of the super-small handgun is at a 16-year high, with nearly 900,000 made in the U.S. in 2014, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. And those numbers come even as production and sale of long guns and large-caliber handguns are actually down, according to the pro-gun gontrol news site TheTrace.org. |

Lawmakers advanced legislation that would allow people 21 years and older to carry hidden guns without permits or training. The bill would allow people to carry concealed, loaded guns in public without permits as long as it was covered by something like a coat. Adults between the ages of 18 and 20 would need a permit and training with live firing. If approved, Idaho would join a small handful of states that don't require concealed carry permits. |

Missouri lawmakers during a Monday House committee hearing weighed proposals that would expand gun access on college campuses by allowing people to carry concealed firearms. The bills are among several introduced this year by state Republican lawmakers, who have argued that students should be allowed to carry firearms for self-defense and that armed, law-abiding citizens with proper training can save lives during attempted mass shootings. |

A school district in southeastern South Dakota has taken a step toward becoming the first in the state to allow school employees to carry guns under a law approved three years ago. The board of the Tri-Valley School District gave unanimous approval Monday to a so-called school sentinel program. Final approval could come next month, but the policy wouldn't take effect immediately. State law requires that school personnel be trained, and parents could also choose to put the issue up for a vote.

Long before James Bond's ingenious cigarette gun, ski pole gun, and yes, even bagpipe gun -- there was the real-life "Le Petit Protector." Scarcely larger than a fingernail, this unusual 19th century pistol was mounted on a metal band and worn on the finger, much like a jeweled ring.

911 Caller: “Oh my God, that was really close…!
”Dispatcher: ”OK”
Gunfire….Gunfire
Dispatcher: “What’s your name, ma’am?”
911 Caller: “I’m Patti.”
This was an actual 911 call made by Patti Nielson from the library during the Columbine School shooting. In the seconds following, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold stormed the library she was in and demanded that “Everybody get up!” before shooting students inside on April 20, 1999. On this day, 13 people died and 23 suffered from gun shot wounds, before the two shooters turned the guns on themselves inside the library.
