The fatal stabbing of 47-year-old Michael Harvey in Beech Island earlier this week was the culmination of a documented two-year “slow-burn” neighborhood feud. On Monday, March 9, 2026, deputies responded to the 5000 block of Woodcrest Way where they found Harvey suffering from fatal knife wounds inside a vehicle. After a swift investigation, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office announced that the man who stabbed him, Christopher Paul McRae, will not face criminal charges. |

A heavily revised firearms bill is moving through the Tennessee House, and it’s already drawing sharp constitutional concerns from the Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA). House Bill 2064, sponsored by Rep. Chris Todd, was completely rewritten on March 11, 2026, during a House Criminal Justice Subcommittee meeting. The amendment itself was not posted publicly in the bill’s online history, but the subcommittee advanced it on a party‑line vote. Sen. Paul Bailey is carrying the companion bill, SB2467, which has not yet been scheduled in Senate Judiciary. |

It’s unbelievable though apparently true (I quadruple-checked it) that the United States’ murder rate for 2025 may be the lowest it has been since perhaps 1900. Given this, even those fancying gun control a remedy may think more firearms restrictions would currently be a solution in search of a problem. |
