... "The sheriff of San Diego County told ordinary citizens they have no right to defend themselves in public. At the same time, an average of 134 people per day are robbed, assaulted, raped or murdered in San Diego County. Time always matters. For 4100 citizens last month, time ran out. Time matters and more of us bleed each day as judges ponder. We’ve waited for years for the court to respect the right of armed self-defense. It might take an equally long time for the appeals process to finally conclude at the Supreme Court." ...

"The King County Prosecutor’s office confirmed via e-mail to Examiner that the teen accused of gunning down a North Seattle man for his cellphone last month is scheduled for arraignment Monday in a case that neither Washington CeaseFire – which is running a new anti-gun bus billboard campaign – or the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility (WAGR) has so far tried to exploit."

"That may be in part because no strategy they have suggested nor are currently promoting would have prevented this or any other violent crime, and they know it. Criminals will get their hands on guns regardless what the law says." ...

"It seems there is always a news story about some active shooter somewhere. This make gun owners cringe. The media plays up such events to give the gun grabbers a platform to push their agenda. These are, in fact, rare events. The streets of 'gun controlled' Chicago are far more dangerous. The problem we have is while we can predict urban violence, there is no way to predict where and when a mass shooting will occur. ... What do we do when it happens? . . ."

"I have the opposite opinion as the reader who wrote in accusing TTAG of 'saber rattling' regarding a potential gun confiscation in Connecticut. It is a confiscation drive, after all, even though the 'collection' phase hasn’t yet begun. As we all try to understand where the fine line is, and put off the potential for conflict, it is easy to forget the intentions of the Connecticut law. That some would resist was known and embraced by the anti-gun forces who sponsored the law. That innocent citizens would be turned into felons at the stroke of midnight on December 31 was fantasized about by those who see gun owners as inherently evil, untrustworthy people. And as we all know, those aren’t just fringe groups ..." ...
