"Great news! It appears the destruction of military once fired brass has ended with a reversal of DoD policy."

"Dear MSSA Friends,"

"I just received a phone call from the office of U.S. Senator Tester of Montana to inform me that at 5:15 (EST) today a letter cosigned by Senator Tester (D-MT) and Senator Baucus (D-MT) was faxed to the Department of Defense asking DoD to reverse its new policy requiring destruction of fired military cartridge brass. At 5:30, I am told, Tester's office received a fax back from DoD saying that the brass destruction policy IS reversed." ...

The Obamanoids just blinked. Here's two links provided me by Admiral Ahab, who claims credit for the NRA . . . I rather think that since it was Gary Marbut of the Montana Shooting Sports Association who was on this like a duck on a june bug last week and also as it was his two senators who sent this letter to DLA,

http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/DLA.MilitaryBrass.pdf

that I'm going to give Gary the lion's share of the credit on this one.

If the Lairds of Fairfax did stir their stumps to actually do something on this, it will be the first time since Obama won the election. I guess we can give 'em credit for that. Of course all you Threepers and JPFOers who were pouring it on since last week didn't hurt either.

"In my days in hostage rescue, SOPs dictated that once you had a suspect fixed into position, you turned up the heat by removing his/her access to amenities such as power, water, heat, cooling, etc.. The idea was to make the hostage taker so miserable that when you offered a glass of water or even a kind word, he would be more inclined to compromise." ...

"The same tactic is being employed against all gun owners and the American population in general. "Let's set things straight right up front. Yes, some guns are being smuggled into Mexico from the U.S. Most are handguns. But, handguns are being illegally trafficked from state to state and from the U.S. to Canada. It should come as no surprise that guns are smuggled into Mexico. But, the problem being portrayed by the U.S. media and our government is not as it seems. You see, Mexico doesn't allow ownership of most firearms, so ordinary Mexican people seeking self-protection will find a way to get them into Mexico. As for the drug cartels operating in the border towns along the U.S., they have other sources for their weapons and have become the prime supplier within Mexico." ...

"[BCPGV] president ... Paul Helmke was quoted in a News-Sentinel article on gun control Feb. 24. What Helmke doesn't say is that in Indiana, the right to carry a concealed firearm has generated much less violent crime than in Washington, D.C. (per FBI statistics), where Helmke now has finally found his niche. Does it seem strange the Brady Campaign gives higher ratings to Washington, D.C., than to Indiana?"

Since there has been no record of accidental shootings increasing there, and Florida statistics show a substantial reduction in violent crime, is there something amiss?" ...

"My colleague David Codrea has already written about the new [DoD] regulations mandating destruction of once-fired cartridge cases, rather than their resale to ammo manufacturers for 'remanufacturing' into inexpensive ammunition ... I plan to take a somewhat different angle."

"Specifically, I want to look at the implications for law enforcement. Remember from David's article that Georgia Arms is one of the companies that will be very negatively affected ... Then come to grips with the fact that Georgia Arms is the fifth largest ammunition manufacturer in the nation--producing over one million rounds per month of .223 Remington alone--many of those rounds going to law enforcement agencies." ...

Mass Shootings Set Pro Gun Agenda Back

"It was not a good week to work for the right to carry a concealed weapon in churches, schools and public areas."

"It was not a good week to work for the right to buy more than one firearm a month."

"After previous mass shootings — the Wisconsin church killings of 7 in 2005, the Salt Lake City and Omaha mall killings of 13 in 2007, Virginia Tech in 2007 and Northern Illinois University killings of 5 last year — the public would listen to the gun lobby dogma that we need more guns not less and teachers, church goers and shoppers should be armed."

"Not this time." ...
-------

KABA Note: In the Wisconsin church shooting the shooter only used one gun, so 'one a month' is irrelevant. In the Trolley Square shooting, only one firearm was obtained legally, so 'one a month' is irrelevant. In the Omaha mall shooting only one gun was used, so 'one a month' is irrelevant. Virginia has a 'one a month' law which the shooter complied with. The Northern Illinois University shooter purchased his 4 guns over 6 months, so 'one a month' is irrelevant.

After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings.

"Here's a question people frequently ask:"
