Italians make some of the most sought after firearms in the world. For decades they supplied the standard issue pistol of the U.S. military. Domestically, however, few Italians have owned guns for self defense. But now, analysts say a growing sense of insecurity -- and some of the country's new leaders -- are bringing a shift in Italy's gun laws and culture, and despite falling crime rates, more Italians are arming themselves for security. |

The Second Amendment Foundation today criticized the 4-3 split decision by the Connecticut state Supreme Court that reinstated a lawsuit against Remington Arms over how it marketed the Bushmaster rifle used in the tragic 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.
“This ruling strains logic, if not common sense,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The court dismissed the bulk of the lawsuit’s allegations, but appears to have grasped at this single straw by deciding that the advertising is somehow at fault for what Adam Lanza did that day in December more than six years ago.

One of the most-recognizable pistols made today, the Magnum Research Desert Eagle is available in a range of finish options designed to appeal to a broad range of consumers, from durable, matte-black finishes to the flashy, gold-plated look that makes the gun really stand out on the range. To these already extensive finish options, Magnum Research added a new finish in the form of its "White Tiger," playing off the tiger-striped look already available in black and gold finishes.

While some people are hoping for a pot of gold this St. Patrick’s Day Weekend, others will be hoping for some luck hunting turkeys. In 2018, the Conservation Advisory Board passed a motion that set the start date for turkey season as the third Saturday in March each year. The decision was made to allow as many hens as possible to breed before the males are harvested.

Rule No. 1 of tort law: The bad guy is the one with the most money to pay you. On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza murdered 26 people, 20 of them schoolchildren ages six and seven. Lanza killed himself, too. Can’t sue him. Lanza had a history of mental illness — a long one. He’d been treated under the New Hampshire “Birth to Three” program and later by the Yale Child Study Center. But it would be hard to make a case against those institutions, which enjoy a great deal more sympathy than gun manufacturers do.

A social media post by an Alaska human rights official questioning the appropriateness of a sticker on the back of a truck reading "Black Rifles Matter" has caused an uproar, with Gov. Mike Dunleavy calling for an investigation.
Marti Buscaglia, executive director of the state Commission for Human Rights, said the truck was parked outside the commission's building in Anchorage.
She said she thought the sticker was racist and posted a picture Thursday on the commission's Facebook page asking, "In what world is this OK?"
Buscaglia said she used her business card to write a note that she placed on the truck hoping the owner would call her. The note asked that the truck with the "offensive" sticker not be parked in the lot.

Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wasted no time Friday, launching a verbal attack on the National Rifle Association in reaction to the mass shooting at two New Zealand mosques, according to The Hill.
But the Seattle P-I.com and Associated Press are reporting that the second mosque attack was interrupted when “a prayer-goer returned fire with a rifle or shotgun.” If accurate, this report would reinforce NRA’s long-standing argument that “good guys with guns” stop “bad guys with guns.” |

Evergreen State rights activists are cautiously sighing in relief with what appears to have been Wednesday night’s legislative cutoff death of a handful of gun control bills in the Legislature, but they are mindful that “it ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings,” and she’s not yet approached the microphone.
According to a report from the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, legislation that would have banned possession of so-called “high capacity magazines” didn’t make the cut. |

On March 13th, 2019 the Iowa state Senate voted 33-16 to pass Senate Joint Resolution 18 to propose an amendment to the state Constitution affirming and recognizing the right of Iowans’ to keep and bear arms as a fundamental individual right. Later the same day, the state House of Representatives voted 53-46 to concur. While this important amendment will not appear on the ballot until 2022, there are still two pieces of critical, pro-gun legislation that can be heard and enacted this year. Please contact your state Representative and urge them to SUPPORT HF 636 and HF 716. Click the “Take Action” button below.

Here’s a capsule view of what happened during the state Legislature’s 60-day session that ended Saturday. Not so high: No, New Mexico isn’t legalizing recreational cannabis this year. But Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham told reporters she will put it on the agenda next year. “We’re going to make that a priority,” she said.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and state Attorney General Bob Ferguson are urging gun dealers in Washington to abide by the terms of a gun-control initiative that was passed by voters last November. Inslee and Ferguson, both Democrats, sent a letter earlier this month to 262 gun dealers who operate in counties where sheriffs have indicated they will not enforce Initiative 1639, which passed with 60 percent of the vote.

Dick's Sporting Goods, which banned assault-style weapons from all of its stores after the Parkland, Florida, school shooting last year, said Tuesday it will remove firearms from 125 of its lowest-performing stores later this year. That represents about 17 percent Dick's stores, but it's not yet known how many, if any, stores in California will be affected.

A bill introduced to the Missouri House of Representatives would require every resident between 18 and 34 years old to own at least one AR-15. Introduced by Bootheel Representative Andrew McDaniel, House Bill 1108 is called the "McDaniel Militia Act." The bill defines an "AR-15" as "any semi-automatic rifle that is modeled on the AR-15 rifle design by AramaLite, Inc." It defines a "resident" as "a resident of the state who is 18 years or older and under 35 years old, who is not prohibited by law or court order from possessing a firearm." |

The fastest reload is a second gun. This sage advice has been handed down by generations of professionals and civilians who learned carrying a back-up gun was cheap insurance. Named after famed NYPD stakeout squad gunfighter Jim Cirillo, producing a second gun in a fight became known as the New York reload. Most every police officer I’ve ever known carried a second gun, usually in the form of a snubbie revolver in a trouser or jacket pocket. It’s a hard habit to break, as the ones I know who have retired continue this practice every day. |

Recent years saw the saga of military-handgun testing and evaluation enter news headlines across the country, as the U.S. military embarked on its Modular Handgun System program to replace the aging Beretta M9, in service since 1985. However, sidearm selection, while infrequent in American history, is not new, having a storied history dating back to numerous private-contract guns from the late 18th century to the Model 1805 Harpers Ferry pistol, the country’s first sidearm produced by a national armory.
