The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) warns that gun control targeting the so-called “Charleston Loophole” could be before Congress for a vote as early as next week. The NSSF told Breitbart News the bill, the Enhanced Background Check Act of 2021, is sponsored by House Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and “could be on the floor as early as next week, bypassing House Judiciary altogether.” |

Throughout history, several firearms have become inexorably linked to a single cartridge. Colt’s 1911 will always be associated with the .45 ACP. When you think of lever-actions, you think of the .30-30 Win. And, the AR-15 is forever tethered to the .223 Rem./5.56 NATO. Of course, that isn’t exactly correct, is it? When the Framers put the Bill of Rights into place, they did so assuming that Americans were a fundamentally moral people. John Adams stated that explicitly, saying, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” One element of this assumption was that the people could be trusted with firearms. Now, though, those in charge of the government presumptively assess Americans as immoral and untrustworthy.

It’s widely understood that the current occupants of the White House, the Biden-Harris Administration, have positioned themselves as the most anti-gun team this country has ever seen on Pennsylvania Avenue. Attacks on our right to keep and bear arms don’t just take the form of gun bans or universal background checks. A man defended himself at a gas station in Loris, S.C., from an armed assailant on the afternoon of Feb. 11, 2021. The man was involved in a road-rage incident while driving, and the other truck followed him to a gas station. Around 5:30 p.m. that Thursday, the man parked his truck at a pump, while the other truck pulled in behind. The driver of the other truck got out with a knife in hand and approached the driver-side door of the man's truck. The attacking driver then opened the door of the truck with the man still inside. |
