This event was reported on TV, and supposedly the formerly anti-CCW police chief said this event changed his mind on Michigan's shall-issue policy.
------- FULL TEXT BELOW... -------
A woman in Farmington Hills stopped a robbery Friday with a concealed weapon she was carrying.
Police tell Local 4 the woman was entering an office building around 6:30 a.m. when two men confronted her. She reportedly pulled the gun and called 911. Police responded and arrested the two men.
The woman has a concealed weapons permit for the gun. |

"A former Orange police officer was sentenced yesterday to nine years in federal prison for his role in the death of an East Orange man who was beaten and abused by officers when they mistook him for a wanted cop-killer."
"Choking back tears, former officer Brian Smith apologized to the family of the victim moments before the sentence was issued. Smith was accused of blasting the suspect point-blank in the face with pepper spray as he lay beaten and unconscious in a stairwell at Orange police headquarters." ...
"Four fellow Orange officers were also sentenced in the case, but received significantly lighter penalties of 33 months each." ...
"Prosecutors claimed that the cops kicked and beat Faison at the scene of his arrest on an Orange street, and then dragged him, barely conscious, into a dimly lighted rear stairwell at police headquarters. There, they said, police 'began to exact their own brand of punishment,' pulling a gun on him and blasting him point blank with pepper spray as he struggled for breath from an asthma attack." ...
"In addition to the mistaken Faison arrest [and BRUTAL, MEDIEVAL MURDER], at least three innocent people were charged in the Carnegie case before the real killer, Condell Woodson, eventually confessed." ...
KABA QUESTION:
If you tortured and murdered a police officer in the way this citizen was tortured and murdered, do you think you'd get off with just nine years?
And in case you don't read the full story -- and you ought to -- get a load of this:
"All five were sentenced in the bottom range of the prison terms they could have received, each was given the option to voluntarily report to prison within 60 days, and each gets to serve their time at Fort Dix, 'so they can be close to their families.' " |

"State Rep. Dan Frankel urged fellow lawmakers Friday to pass state-level restrictions on assault weapons in preparation for the expiration of the federal law." ...
" 'Assault weapons serve no legitimate civilian purpose and are the weapon of choice for criminals. We need to keep these weapons off our streets and out of our communities,' [Pittsburgh] Police Chief Robert W. McNeilly Jr. said in a statement."
STOP AND CONSIDER:
In essence, Chief Adolf here is saying that the millions of semi-automatic rifles deceitfully called "assault weapons" owned by law-abiding citizens should be banned and illegal to own. After all, if there's "no legitimate civilian purpose" for them, civilians shouldn't own them, right?
Therefore, this thuggish gun banning cop is the embodiment of justification for the Second Amendment.

"Last May, the former officer rejected a proposed plea deal that would have allowed him to avoid jail time in exchange for him giving up the right to work as a police officer in the future. After a two-week trial in March 2000, Mr. Smith was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and sentenced to six years in prison, but he has remained free while the case is being appealed."
"The state Appellate Court overturned the conviction in October 2002, saying the superior court did not grant him a fair trial because it denied his right to present evidence on police training, among other issues. The higher court remanded the case back to the superior court for a new trial, which must begin with the selection of a new jury." ...
KABA QUESTION:
If you had shot someone in the back and killed him while you had your boot in his back, and then you were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to six years in prison, do you think you'd still be in the free world while appealing your case?

If this wasn't so indicative of the lengths these anti-freedom gun-grabbing extremists will go to it would be funny. Here's the gun-grabbers getting their panties in a knot because the ATF allows for replacement of a damaged "pre-ban assault weapon" receiver. Regarding "Gun lobby's real weapon: Campaign money for willing politicos" [Feb. 25]:
"Bushmaster XM-15 military-style assault rifle" is incorrect. The Bushmaster is not an assault rifle.
Assault rifles are full-auto firearms. The Bushmaster is semiauto only. Assault weapons are particular semiautos with certain features. The Bushmaster lacks those features.
Therefore, the Bushmaster is neither an assault rifle nor an assault weapon. It is simply a semiauto rifle. |

"When your 17-year-old daughter goes off to college, she will enter a jungle where there is one chance in four that a male will rape her. Middle school and high school are also jungles for young women, but not as bad as the college campus. The college rape scandal (reported in a study by a Harvard professor....) is not limited to the service academies. It is a pandemic that has swept the country. Women in colleges are more likely to be raped than are women who didn't go to college." ...
CLUE:
College campus gun bans empower rapists. Rapists know that students are required by Pro Rapist Policies to be defenseless. That's just common sense. Think about it: how many times have you heard of a woman getting raped at a shooting range?
Saying that self-defense-banning college campuses are fertile grounds for rape is like saying the ocean is wet. It doesn't take a Harvard study to figure that out. An average ten year old could piece it together in about one minute. |

"I am not Jesus. If someone threatens my life, I will definitely defend myself," alleged road rage killer and suspended magistrate Sithembele Elvis Tebe told the Cape High Court on Thursday.
Former Mitchells Plain magistrate Tebe, who pleaded not guilty to the murder of Bongani Pendula, claims Pendula's shooting - which took place in Khayelitsha in November 2002 - was accidental and occurred after the 27-year-old father of two attacked and threatened him.
Tebe's evidence stands in direct contrast to the eyewitness account of Khayelitsha resident Rina Makaluza, who testified that she saw Tebe assault and then shoot Pendula at point-blank range in the head. -------

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- "A five-year member of the San Francisco Police Department is in trouble over charges that he used his badge to try to get into a hotel room where he thought his estranged wife might be visiting another man."
"Newly filed internal police charges say that Michael Celis, 36, showed up at a Burlingame hotel while off duty on March 15, 2003, and told the manager he was investigating a crime and believed the suspect was staying there. Although the manager escorted the officer to the room in question, according to documents filed by Acting Chief Heather Fong, when no one came to the door he was asked to leave."
"Instead, the charges say that Celis next offered $100 to another hotel employee to get inside the room but was again rebuffed. Then, when police officials learned of the allegations and stripped him of his gun privilege and street assignment, he's accused of purchasing his own weapon and improperly carrying it with him both on and off duty." ... |

"State Attorney General Peter Harvey yesterday told prosecutors in Somerset and Atlantic counties to drop assault weapons charges against police officers."
"The state itself may have issued 'conflicting or ambiguous' statements about whether police officers are covered by the 1990 ban on private ownership of the weapons, Harvey said."
"The Division of Criminal Justice, the county prosecutors association and police training commission will study the issue for 120 days in an effort to reach a 'definitive' interpretation of the law and whether it needs to be amended, Harvey said." ...
