CO: Knife Law Reform is on Governor’s Desk

Colorado is working hard to reform its antiquated knife bans. In the late 1950's and early 1960's, a wave of bans on knives swept the nation. The were propelled by emotional tirades of a New York Congressman, and fueled by allegations of widespread use by gangs, in spite of a lack of data. There was no wave of knife violence. But the fake media of the day was able to sweep bans on “gravity” and “switchblade” knives through legislatures across the country. A federal ban in the interstate shipping of automatic knives was enacted into law in 1958, and is still in effect. Colorado passed its ban on “gravity” and “switchblade” knives in 1963.

We’re open for business,” Murphy said Thursday afternoon from a mobile building that serves as his temporary shop for Michael Murphy & Sons. “Guys started shooting (clay) targets again today.”

It was my daddy's gun. An American Gun Co. 12-gauge, double-barrel shotgun with hammers. Passed down by my granddaddy, Arthur Geddings. It was the first shotgun I ever fired. I shot a squirrel with the old gun while sitting in my Daddy's lap, when I was 8 years old. I've shot a lot of game with a lot of different guns since then, but none have meant as much to me. My Dad, Delaney Geddings, had many other guns, but "Old Betsy" was the favorite.

Gun control proponents were just handed a setback by Politifact via newspapers in Tampa Bay and Miami, Florida and it cuts right to the heart of their arguments for so-called “universal background checks.” For years the gun prohibition lobby has claimed that 40 percent of firearms sales in the United States are conducted without background checks. That claim has already been debunked by the Washington Post Fact Checker. Back in 2013, then-President Barack Obama made that assertion at the time, following the Sandy Hook tragedy. New data sets the old claim on its ear.

Common sense dictates that Kansas doesn’t want guns in its mental hospitals. But the state is headed precisely in that direction unless lawmakers can rally in the days ahead and agree on exemptions to a gun law passed in 2013. That law gave mental hospitals, other hospitals and the state’s college campuses four years to prepare for the day when firearms would be allowed in their buildings.

For approximately 120 years, progressives’ virulent attacks on the U.S. Constitution, customs, and traditions have gone unchallenged. Should the progressive movement succeed in watering down or removing the Second Amendment, which is the center of gravity in our Constitution; the progressives, then, will finally achieve their main goal –power.

Despite lacking any manual safeties or disconnects, Glock pistols are perhaps the world’s most popular duty and defensive pistols. But with the rise of Appendix Inside the Waistband (AIWB) carry, some have wondered how suitable the platform is, especially when holstering in such a sensitive area. The guys with Tau Development Group have developed a simple enhancement that may put those fears to rest.

The weather is taking a shooting friendly turn across the fruited plain. Whether you “hang ‘em up” in the winter or have a hospitable indoor clime to keep your hand in, now is still a good time to get the range bag ready for the great outdoors. With that in mind, here are some modest items that are session- or match-savers in our experience, belong in every bag (we posit with only slight immodesty), and can be added for a true pittance.

I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them. — George Mason, during Virginia's Convention to Ratify the Constitution (1788)
