"This week we've seen confirmation that the National Rifle Association has been right all along about President Obama's choice for attorney general to lead the Department of Justice."

"Taken with Eric Holder's arguments at the Supreme Court, and Operation Fast and Furious, the picture emerges of an inveterate opponent of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution."

"When Holder was U.S. attorney for D.C. in 1995, he gave a speech to the Woman's National Democratic Club about firearms. He shockingly argued that 'what we need to do is change the way in which people think about guns, especially young people, and make it something that's not cool, that it's not acceptable, it's not hip to carry a gun anymore ...'" ...

"Lead poisoning from bullets? Sounds scary, but the push by the Center for Biological Diversity in a petition to the EPA is nothing new. The claim has been brought up many times, and even the EPA during anti-gun Clinton administration dismissed the fears about traditional, lead ammunition."

"The lead in ammunition has never been shown to produce any health hazards, but a ban would produce a real health hazard, making it much more difficult for people to use guns to defend themselves." ...

Question of the Day: Should You Customize Your Gun?

"With all the options for customizing firearms these days - recoil springs, triggers, custom barrels, enhanced magwells, magazine releases, and grip modifications – you’re just as likely to see a modified guns when you look around at the other shooters at the range as you are stock models. Shooters alter their firearms for a variety of reasons. Most modifications increase performance or reliability, while others serve to add to the gun’s utility. And let’s be honest, some shooters just want a cooler looking gun. While enhancing a firearm may seem like a win-win scenario that’s not always the case . . ." ...

"We met up with the guys from Geissele Automatics at SHOT this year – they’re the other big name in custom triggers along with Timney – and while Timney focuses on single stage triggers Geissele tends to tackle the more complex designs. One of the more interesting triggers they make is the S3G or 'Super 3 Gun' trigger. Specifically intended for use in 3-gun competitions, Geissele makes some interesting claims about its performance. I was curious, and needed to find out if it lives up to its product description. So I emailed William Geissele and a couple days later it was sitting in my mailbox." ...

"South Dakota is one of the most liberal states in the country — when it comes to gun ownership. That’s why it was surprising — and a relief — when Governor Dennis Daugaard used common sense in vetoing a law passed by the South Dakota State Legislature which would have allowed virtually anyone who had a South Dakota driver’s license to keep a concealed weapon. On Monday, the South Dakota State Senate rightfully upheld the governor’s veto — a new law wasn’t needed."

"The problems with the bill were obvious from the start. How is a person supposed to know if something disqualified them from keeping a concealed weapon without some sort of background check? ..." ...
