We’ve been looking for that magic bullet for a long time. Of course, magic bullets don’t exist, but the quest for them has given us some amazing ammunition. A recent contender is a bullet that’s injection-molded from a combination of polymer and copper particles. These extremely light projectiles can be launched fantastically fast, and their terminal-performance profile is a bit different from conventional expanding bullets. The latest ammunition company to get on this fast-moving train is NOVX.

Legislation that would have allowed firearms onto school grounds in Maine, provided they were locked in an occupied vehicle and unloaded, was unanimously rejected by the Maine House on Tuesday. The bill, offered by Rep. John Martin, D-Eagle Lake, was introduced prior to a school shooting in Parkland, Florida that claimed 17 lives, and was originally meant to allow parents who hunt to be able to pick up or drop off their children at school without having to remove their hunting weapons from their vehicles.

The parent company of Harris Teeter will stop selling "a few assault rifle-themed periodicals" on its newsstands. Kroger spokesperson Kristal Howard told Bloomberg that the Ohio-based supermarket chain will still carry certain gun-related magazines in its 2,800 stores in 35 states at an unspecified time. In Feb. 27, Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods took notable, and seemingly influential, steps in curtailing the availability of gun-related products. Walmart announced that it would not sell guns to those under 21 and that it would even stop selling toys resembling guns or assault rifles. |

Hunting may be a popular activity in Michigan, but when it comes to states that are most dependent on the gun industry, it isn't one of them.
Prompted by increased conversation regarding gun control and reform, the personal finance website Wallethub recently conducted a study analyzing the economic impact of guns on each of the 50 states.
Michigan finished 40th overall, meaning its in the bottom 10 when it comes to reliance on firearms.
In general, the firearm industry is big business. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, guns contributed more than $51 billion to the U.S. economy and generated over $6.5 billion in federal and state taxes in 2017.

In February, I was invited by my employer to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. after starting a chapter at NSU for Turning Point, USA. When I found out that I was invited, I was overjoyed. I had never been to our nation’s capital — or even close to it — and now I was going to spend four days exploring D.C. and spending time with 100 of my coworkers and friends, some of whom I consider family. |

After the Parkland, Florida shootings, some are calling for more government research into “gun violence.” Currently, the federal government’s Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is restricted by Congress from using tax money to promote gun control (although not from conducting research into gun-related violence). Some legislators want to remove this funding restriction. Separate from the federal government, the state of California has created a “gun violence research center” and the state of New Jersey is considering establishing a similar program.

UKRAINE'S parliament on Tuesday approved a bill requiring lawmakers to lock up their guns before entering the chamber. The bill that obliges lawmakers to leave weapons and explosives in lockers follows last week's statement by Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, who accused lawmaker Nadiya Savchenko, of plotting an attack on parliament with grenades and automatic weapons. The accusations followed Savchenko's claim that Lutsenko was covering up the killings of protesters during Ukraine's 2014 uprising. |

Tuesday morning’s school shooting incident in Maryland that left the teen gunman dead after being confronted by an armed school resources officer (SRO) dramatically undermines the argument from anti-gunners that armed security in schools is a bad idea.
The shooter, identified as 17-year-old Austin Wyatt Rollins, was reportedly chased down by St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputy Blaine Gaskill. Each reportedly fired one shot in their confrontation at Great Mills High School. The community is about 60 miles southeast from Washington, D.C. |

You can tell a great deal about a man by the enemies he makes. Consider the newest enemy of Missouri’s Governor Eric Greitens, a prosecutor brought on to help in the felony case against the governor. The prosecutor’s name is Ronald Sullivan, and he comes to Missouri by way of Harvard, where he is a professor of law. According to his faculty bio, he is a “theorist in the areas of criminal law, criminal procedure, trial practice and techniques, legal ethics and race theory,” and served as the chair of the “Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for then-Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.”

It is every parents nightmare. We are filled with horror at the thought of someone injuring our children. The strength of that reaction is why brave and honorable men put their bodies in the way of bullets during the Parkland, Florida murders.
Unfortunately, our strong feelings allow us be manipulated by the news media. The truth is bad enough, but we were lied to and told that mass murder is an epidemic.
Let’s separate the truth from the lies. |

A legislative committee is looking at changes to the state Senate-backed gun bill before it's voted on by the House. "I think all Vermonters deserve the freedom to be safe at their home, at their work, at their schools without the constant threat of gun violence hanging over their heads," said Rep. Jill Krowinski, D-Chittenden. Some members of the House Committee on Judiciary say the bill should-- among other things-- prohibit the sale of semi-automatic assault weapons, include a 10-day waiting period for background checks before transferring firearms, and outlaw new sales and ownership of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

On Tuesday, the Des Moines Public School Board voted on a resolution aimed at curbing gun violence. That resolution included a request that lawmakers ban the manufacture, sale, and possession of assault-style weapons. “We're not asking for the second amendment to go away…we do a number of things in our schools to keep our kids safe and to keep our staff safe, but even if we do all those things, someone enters with an assault rifle, that's not going to have a good ending no matter what,” said Des Moines School Board Vice-Chair Cindy Elsbernd.

Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt have added a show tune to the soundtrack of the Parkland, Florida student’s gun-control campaign. The new song is called “Found Tonight,” and is a mashup of Hamilton’s “The Story of Tonight” and the song “You Will Be Found” from the musical Dear Evan Hansen. It was written and performed by Miranda and Platt, and arranged by Tony-winning orchestrator, Alex Lacamoire, the song was written to benefit the March 24th “March for Our Lives,” organized by Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety activist group and by the survivors of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. |
