California will give gun owners more time to register their legal assault weapons under a settlement announced Thursday over what critics charged was the state’s botched registration system in 2018. The settlement with the state attorney general’s office means no owners will be held liable for missing the July 1, 2018, registration deadline. The state will eventually provide a new 90-day window to register the guns after a new hearing and notification process.

While Georgia authorities continue their investigations into Tuesday’s tragic massage parlor attacks, where eight people were murdered resulting in predictable calls for additional gun controls, there is another side to the firearms issue that should not be dismissed by anyone entertaining thoughts about an unconstitutional ban on guns.
The firearms industry injects billions of dollars into the economy, providing jobs and funding for wildlife conservation and enhancement, habitat protection and more. |

Marksmanship isn’t like riding a bicycle. It's a perishable skill that will deteriorate without constant practice. The current ammo shortage has put a damper on many people's range time. The ammunition you need to practice can be hard to find and, if you can locate some, expect to pay two or three times what you did a year ago. With no apparent end in sight, here are a few ways you can keep your skills sharp without resorting to smashing the piggy bank.

A day before California Attorney General Xavier Becerra was confirmed as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, his office disposed of an embarrassing matter. Becerra’s Department of Justice filed a signed settlement agreement in federal court in Sacramento that requires the immediate suspension of all investigations and prosecutions, statewide, of people suspected or accused of failing to register their “assault weapons,” because the department’s online registration system was another state government technology train wreck.

Side-by-side shotguns have always evoked images of elite gentry and fine country estates, but you don't have to be the son of an English lord to have a well-built side-by-side. Turkey-based Akkar Silah is producing an affordable line of sporting arms that are being imported into the U.S. by European American Armory Corp. One of the latest models, the Churchill 512, gives you a slender, well-built side-by-side for less than $1,000.

The true Russian AK-104 is an interesting beast. It’s essentially just a slightly cut-down version of the polymer-stock, modernized AK-100 series carbines chambered in 7.62x39mm. Despite this, it has some mystique about it that makes it oddly desirable to shooters who love modern Russian firearms. Especially given how uncommon the gun – or civilian-legal variants of it – are in the United States. But that all is changing with Palmetto State Armory’s entry into the AK market. |

Ankle holsters often meet with strong support or opposition. Hardly ever are gun folks ambivalent about them. They love them or hate them, with very little middle ground. It’s not typically the holsters themselves they oppose but rather the idea of ankle carry in general as a viable concealed carry option. While I’m not a big fan of ankle carry, sometimes you don’t have a choice. Whether or not you’re a fan of ankle holsters, however, the Raw Dog Tactical Breathable Ankle Holster is a great option. |

Evading an amendment that would have reduced funding for increased hunter access, House Bill 122 has successfully passed through the Wyoming House. The bill, which is currently awaiting review by the Senate Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee, would open up millions of acres of currently inaccessible public lands.
