“We support the Second Amendment. If you own a gun, keep that gun. Nobody wants to take it away from you – at least I don’t want to do that.” That’s what Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke told voters in an April 2018 radio interview, when he was running against Republican Ted Cruz in the Senate election in Texas. Asked specifically about AR-15s (“I own an AR-15. A lot of our listeners out there own AR-15s. Why should they not have one?”) Beto responded (at the 0:24 mark), “To be clear, they should have them. If you purchased that AR-15, if you own it, keep it. Continue to use it responsibly.” |
Democratic Administrations Flip-Flop-Flip on Gun Dealer Licensing

Recent Democratic presidential administrations have been all over the place when it comes to gun dealer licensing. In the early 1990s, President Bill Clinton went to great efforts to eliminate as many Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs or gun dealers) as he could. President Barack Obama reversed course and demanded that those marginally “engaged in the business” of gun selling acquire an FFL. Now President Joe Biden’s administration has the government running the Clinton playbook again – operating a “zero tolerance” policy that is shuttering FFLs over trivial violations. This sort of schizophrenic policy-making could give the impression that this “strategy” has been motivated by anti-gun politics rather than concerns about violent crime. |

Second Amendment supporters have come a long way over the years. In 1982, California was having a referendum on whether to ban handguns. Now, there is a good chance that its “discretionary” carry permit scheme will be gone. There could also be a chance the Supreme Court could also wipe out semiauto and magazine bans in the near future. |

I didn’t exactly grow up in the bed of a pickup truck, but I spent a lot of time there, as well as in the cargo area of a Chevy Suburban and an Oldsmobile station wagon. Being one of the three youngest in a large family, I was often relegated to what my dad called the “way back” portion of whatever vehicle we owned—as in, “David, Mary, and Barbara, get in the way back.” During the fuel crisis of the 1970s, my two younger sisters and I rode in the hatchback of a Dodge Omni. Dad would open the hatch, like you might to retrieve groceries, and the three of us would crawl out. |

I get it. You wan’t to get after a gobbler. You want to hear a tom sound off on the roost or strike him on the ground and then go make a play. For a lot of tree-stand whitetail hunters, what’s so great about spring turkey season is the chance to finally stretch your legs and roam the woods some. If you’re a Western-based public-land hunter, like me, you probably think of hunting as an active sport almost by definition. And yet, all of the being said, if you really want to tag a gobbler on pressured public land, your best bet, by far, is to scout out the perfect ambush, dig in your heels, and wait that bugger out.

In the midst of a deadly string of marijuana shop armed robberies in Western Washington’s Puget Sound/I-5 corridor region, Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat has penned an interesting piece on how soft-on-crime judges appear to be a problem with keeping criminals off the streets. |

When we saw that we had nearly every major variation of the Sig Sauer P320 series in the Certified Used Vault, we knew we had to take on the monumental task of a complete review of the series. It’s a big task for sure, because Sig does a great job of listening to their customers and then tailoring solutions through the P320 lineup to their needs.

Try as I might, my family just isn’t keen to help me out in the man cave when it’s time to clean the guns. Come to think of it, they’re not all that interested in the building and tinkering processes either. The result is predictable. Almost all of my gunsmithing and maintenance chores are done solo, limiting my capacity to just two hands. |

To most, reloading is a simple, straightforward task. Resize the case, insert a primer, the powder and seat a bullet. Yes, it will make a loud noise, but accuracy and even function can be improved — especially with rifle rounds.

This week, President Biden signed into law a massive spending bill that funds the government through the end of the year, and, once again, NRA-ILA was successful in working on Capitol Hill to keep anti-gun members of Congress from eliminating pro-gun riders such as the Tiahrt amendment on releasing trace data and the Dickey amendment prohibiting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) from advocating for gun control. The extensive work covered hearings, bill markups and votes in committee and on the floor to keep these provisions from being stripped. |
